Just wanted to let yall know that I was able to install a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti works in the ASUS KGPE-D16 dual AMD Opteron motherboard today. You can use the Windows XP x64 drivers without any issues in Windows Server 2003 x64 as well.

The next step is to install a second 550 Ti next week after initial testing is complete.

Getting ready for the big PrimeGrid challenge next month! b-)

SETI.USA is currently ranked #2 in the 2011 Challenge Series and Germany is right on our heels!

Wow. We're actually a lot closer than I would have thought this year! That is great news. ;)

Also -- fantastic about your new board! I hope it O/Cs really nice in Afterburner and that you crank out some fantastic # of WUs for the Challenge! I will be there with all the GTX 460's and the CPUs, of course.

I have plenty of hobby parts in my workshop, just very little time to install them all!

Before, I overclock, I will need to put this system in my Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced. Just not enough airflow right now.

Did I mention the HAF 932 comes with a dishwasher upgrade kit?

*ring...ring* 'ello? "Hello!" *what can I do for you ma'am?*..."Yeah, this is DrPop's wife." *Uh huh...* "Well, I've been told there is this dishwasher upgrade kit I could purchase for his HAF-932, and I'd like to put that on his tab please."
*OK, that will be $399 + CA sales tax, ma'am. Would you like to purchase the optional ultra hot water heater extension upgrade for the sanitizing setting? Most of our buyers find they like the option of an auxiliary heater when not running their computer.*
"No, thank you, I don't think we'll need that. His computers are on 24/7 and with all those graphics card thingamajigies he talks about, they put out more than enough heat for dish water!" . . . LOL! :P

Probably enough to keep your wife supplied with plenty of hot water for you as well.

I was also able to cram an EVGA GeForce GT 430 video card into the ASUS KGPE-D16 today.

I moved the motherboard out of the case into a Cooler Master HAF 932 Advance computer case due to heat issues. :)

Finally, here are some photos of the build. Let me know if they work.

With three PCIex16 video cards and two AMD Opterons running 100%, I am having heat issues still, even in the new case. The fans are just not moving enough air... so I ordered 4x Cooler Master Excalibur 120MM Fans for the side panel today. The side panel in the HAF 932 Advanced can hold one 230MM fan or four 120MM fans.

What's too hot? CPU or GPU? Or something else?

All of it, in the Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced.

For example at 100% use; One AMD processor is reporting 123F while the other is showing 110F. The video cards are hitting a max of 161F, 204F and 192F. In the smaller case, the AMD processors were hitting 117F and 119F steadily. The GTX 550Ti video cards were all going over 204F with the small GT 430 reporting 168F.

As a server guy, I just don't like my equipment to get this hot.:-s

Those CPU temps don't really bother me. I'm running 110F on mine right now...

Those GPU temps, though, are a bit troubling. Do you have a slot in between your 550Ti's? I can't tell from the photos earlier in the thread... If not, try moving one of them down a slot to get more air in between them.

Another strategy is to downclock the RAM on the cards. It will decrease temps while having no (or VERY minimal) impact on crunching PG.

No spare slots in between. The motherboard only works in the current configuration with three video cards.:((

Maybe consider a side mounted 140~200mm fan that forces air to the top edges of the cards.

The side panel in this case can take 4 120MM fans.

I have four on order... hope they arrive before June 20th!

Have you tried downclocking GPU RAM? I do this on my ATI cards, and there is a VERY noticeable drop in temps...
