As many of you will know, Andy Bowery joined us a few weeks ago as our new Technical Coordinator, formally taking over the post vacated by Tolu last September. Andy comes with considerable experience managing large e-Science projects – his previous job was Code Manager of a computational heart-modelling project in Oxford University’s Computing Laboratory. Together with Jonathan Miller, who we are also pleased to welcome, he is currently doing a great job of rationalising the technical side of climateprediction.net and weatherathome, so participants should see many fewer delays with contacting servers and so forth. On the science side, Andy’s arrival means we can press ahead with experiments both planned and under test that we have had to keep on ice during our technical “interregnum”.read more
