    Summer/Fall Project

In addition to juggling a crawling baby (not literally, of course) and an out of state project, I (with strong input from dear wife) decided to build a deck this year. So this is what I’ve been up to, mostly one or two days a week since late July. I’m pretty close to done, there are another 200 or so screw holes to plug and then an application of oil.

90% framed with cantilevers on both ends:

Ipe 4x4 rail/pergola posts notched and bolted:

Deck boards installed with hidden fasteners:

Ipe pergola, double 2x8 beams with 17ft span!

On the right you can see a 3’x6’ outrigger, intended for the grill, currently occupied by Nova’s swing

Planters & bench in place, dimmable LED lighting in the steps, screw hole plugging in process

Sorry c303a, his wife has already told him that my deck is next.

Besides, nobody in their right mind would start building a deck at this time of year here in Wisconsin.

It has taken me nearly 100 days to build a 280 square foot deck, and it's right outside my door. How much time ya got??

A few of those 100+ degree, humid Memphis days I would have gladly traded for some of your winter! Anyway, just got to get the piers in before the ground freezes, right?

    Re: Summer/Fall Project

I am game for next summer. Of course it would have to be at least 290 sq. ft. so I can say that it is bigger ten yours.

Be careful Mumps, my wife has friends in the Italian community. They may be able to sway who gets his services first.
