trigggl, I'd recommend PrimaBoinca for the CPU's. There's an AMD bias there, and, as of today, SG is outcrunching us there, so we won't have that #1 Team spot for long unless we get back on it.

    Besides, it's good credits too!

Well, he did email me back, so I have my marching orders.

For those keeping score at home, they are KIM and BOK (currently). Trying to get them ready to go tonight. Decided I wanted boincmgr installed. That's 46 more packages to install. I'm at about 36.

    Houston, we have a problem!

I can't get this router to play nice with Gentoo.

Anyone know anything about TRENDnet routers?

It's not resolving anything at all?

    What does

    cat /etc/resolv.conf

    and

    ifconfig -a

    say ?

    what about traceroute 8.8.8.8

I tend to use google's nameservers these days (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

The machine shouldn't care about any router upstream at all really.

I guess I don't have traceroute installed yet. Don't know if that makes a difference. I assume not.

This is what's bizarre to me. I can ping an address, but not use a service.
    Code:
    KIM ~ # ping www.google.com
    PING www.l.google.com (74.125.224.180) 56(84) bytes of data.

    KIM ~ # ssh trigggl.is-an-engineer.com

Just to be clear, I do manage to use the service without the name.

    Re: DrPop's Last Stand

    just change /etc/resolv.conf to be

    nameserver 8.8.8.8
    nameserver 8.8.4.4

and not use the local router at all. They are very reliable.

Google put that there for the public to use? I guess I would have to assume they did or they would be better protected. That was nice of them.

    Well, well, well...
    Code:
    KIM ~ # ssh trigggl.is-an-engineer.com

Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes

Thanks, DrBok! I do believe this puts these things back in business.

Now I just need to figure out why cuda isn't working yet.

    Cool.

And yes, they are public google nameservers. No need to use your own.

Most routers just proxy to their ISP anyway so you aren't doing too many more hops.
