PrimeGrid: The Winter Solstice Challenge in 6 days

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the full force of Winter is soon here. Please come join us in observing one of Nature's way-points...the Winter Solstice. A 3 day (19-22 Dec) Winter Festival/Challenge is being offered on the PPS (Sieve) application. 32 & 64 bit builds are available for Mac, Linux, and Windows as well as CUDA/ATI (OpenCL) for the GPU.This will conclude PrimeGrid's 2011 Challenge series. For more information, please see this forum thread.

Yeah, ati cards are handicapped, but every team is going to have members in the same boat.

I'm trying to get ahead of the task and wanted to check my project preferences, I have PPS Sieve check for my card. I tried to un check PPS Focus and Sophie Germain Prime Search, both are listed as cpu projects, but the don't stay unchecked. Does that mean I'm going to get cpu wu's for those?

Any optimized apps, it didn't appear so from the introduction to the challenge.

    Thanks.

[edit] just downloaded some to do a dry run to get an idea what I can expect.

You can't permanently uncheck the focus projects. If you don't want cpu tasks, set the 'use cpu' option to 'no' and the 'use ati gpu' and 'use nvidia gpu' to 'yes' and you'll only get gpu tasks.

Thanks, I'll double check on my project settings.
