    What happened to the 590s?

Hmmmm...Please help to clue me in. I can't seem to find any 590 video cards anywhere. Am I missing something. (I am pretty sure I am). Where have they all gone?

Ste\/e is probably stockpiling them to continue his BOINC reign...

They're around, just expensive and not common. Here's one: http://www.seaboom.com/scripts/produ.../3GD5&REFID=FR

Yeah they actually are drop shipping that one. Are they that popular or what is the issue with so few. Are they worth it at that price? $750.

Hmmm.... It looks like nVidia has stopped production of the 590. Guess they cannot compete with the new Radeon offerings.

Nope. That is in my opinion only, though. The AMD 7xxx are out now, but only in limited quantities. If you wait another 4 to 6 weeks, they will probably be available in larger quantity and more outlets, meaning the price will drop somewhat.
Also, NVIDIA's Kepler should be showing signs of life in the next while, so as stats begin to leak out, that will put pressure on the existing cards.

$750? At what point do they start advertising, "Buy a new Video card and we'll throw in a computer to run it."

I stay with Cuda as it offers more projects that I have an interest in. So perhaps I should wait for the next generation. Does anyone have a price point at which the 590 becomes a good purchase?

Isn't the 590 essentially two 580s stuck together, but without as good of cooling? If so, I'd say about 1.3x the cost of a 580 would be a good price. But that's me...

I guess I should clarify my stance a little. Yes, the 590 spits out crazy credits, and could be "worth it" at that price. However, the next generation is close and so much more crunching power per watt, that I think it would be a little nuts to buy at 590 right now. Unless the next gen. is way too pricey when it comes out and/or you just don't want to wait (I understand that feeling!).
