Hi Rgathright, great to have you with us!
What's your favorite project(s) to crunch these days?

Glad to see the crew is still here causing trouble... for Germany! HUNGRY GOLDFISH!

I still love the concept of the SETI project and love all the experience it has given me.

Lately, I have been extremely busy with POV Ray Beta since it supports multi-cores now.

Here is what 3 months of crunching on my various machines including an AMD 1090T x6 and HP 24 core Opteron server got me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv5u_uy7hqI

Well that's gotta be the coolest mandelbulb i've ever seen, honestly! I'm just curious, is POV ray similar to blender or whatever renderfarm.fi and BURP use? If so, you wouldnt have to wait 3 months to render another one ( and maybe get some BOINC credits ).

Yes, very similar but they do not yet use the multi-threaded application.

The animation has 80000 frames in it and I am only on around the 1300th frame over here right now. Creating the MPEG1 movie from these frames is interesting as well because it will draw my AMD 1090T x6 processor to a halt for over an hour and make a RAID 0 x 4 drive array jump to 100% utilization.

Of course, that's what I have always been all about... using every spare cycle that a computer can offer!

    Yeah 80000 frames of mpeg1 @ 1080p, you're ganna need a big harddrive!
