No! MMs are unchanged. If you had (say) 25 100ks, you still have 25 100ks. This one project exploding makes absolutely no difference to your MM standings. It does not make it any harder or easier to get that 26th. And everyone has the same amount of work to get to 26. It doesn't matter what individual projects pay comported to others. That is why MMs are the right way to measure performance (IMO).
What has been devalued is the "total cross-project credits". But that number has always been meaningless.
I probably used the wrong term then. I was talking about overall score as a mega milestone in itself. Your way of thinking is probably the most correct way. Trouble is when people see overall score, that's where their eyes go.
It's like reading a car magazine. All of the stats listed, but all anyone really cares look at is 0 to 60

GPUGrid 100,170,440 I finally got to 100 million. Interesting that this was the project that convinced me to buy my first gpu, a NV GT430. I got sidetracked a lot over the years.
