Van Halen - 1984 - Girl Gone Bad

One of the best guitar intros ever. Also, if you wanna drive fast, this is the drum beat to do it to.

    "Girl Gone Bad"

Lazy eyes in the summer heat, fresh from outta town.
Now she's working on the street, shakin' poor boys down.

    [Chorus:]
    Girl gone bad
    Girl gone bad
Found that girl with a lonesome John, but she should've been with me.
Guess that woman fallen in love, she don't work for free

    [Chorus]

    [Guitar solo]

Soundgarden - The Day I Tried To Live

Holy shit! He had a voice. Superunknown was epic! Still is.

(worst intro ever...not catchy at all. )

I woke the same as any other day
Except a voice was in my head
It said seize the day, pull the trigger, drop the blade
    And watch the rolling heads

The day I tried to live
    I stole a thousand beggar's change
And gave it to the rich
The day I tried to win
I dangled from the power lines
    And let the martyrs stretch
    Singing

    One more time around
    Might do it
    One more time around
    Might make it
    One more time around
    Might do it
    One more time around
The day I tried to live

    Words you say never seem
To live up to the ones
    Inside your head
    The lives we make
Never seem to ever get us anywhere
    But dead

The day I tried to live
I wallowed in the blood and mud with
    All the other pigs

I woke the same as any other day you know
I should have stayed in bed

The day I tried to live
I wallowed in the blood and mud with
    All the other pigs

And I learned that I was a liar
    Just like you

On The Turning Away - Live from Venice 1989. There are sounds in this song that I can have in my head for the rest of my life and be happy.

Eagles - Please Come Home For Christmas [Digital Remastered]

Bells will be ringing this sad sad news
Oh what a Christmas to have the blues
My baby's gone I have no friends
To wish me greetings once again
Choirs will be singing "Silent Night"
    Christmas carols by candlelight
    Please come home for Christmas
    Please come home for Christmas
If not for Christmas by New Years night
    Friends and relations send salutations
Sure as the stars shine above
But this is Christmas yes Christmas my dear
The time of year to be with the ones you love
So won't you tell me you'll never more roam
Christmas and new Years will find you home
There'll be no more sorrow no grief and pain
And I'll be happy, happy once again
Oh there'll be no more sorrow, no grief and pain
And I'll be happy, Christmas once again

Re: What are you listening to?

You know I am going to post a new The Killers video this time each year. They produce them, all for charity, each year. So buy them! They have been doing them for about 10 years now. How crazy is that?!

    Okay, done with the speech.

There is actually a story across three of them. And the end of the trilogy has arrived! Frankly, the first is still my favorite by a mile.

They start out slow and then build into great songs. So don't skip off after 9 seconds, like I usually do with videos.

The Killers - Don't Shoot Me Santa

The Killers - I Feel It In My Bones ft. Ryan Pardey

The Killers - Dirt Sledding ft. Ryan Pardey, Richard Dreyfuss

Kings Of Leon - Beautiful War (BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge 10/09/2013)

    Lyrics (soooo many double entendres):

    "Beautiful War"

    Bite your tongue
    Don't make a scene, dear
Everybody's been here least once before
    We've been here more

    Your heart breaks
    Rolls down the window
I've seen it all go, come back around
    And I've heard the sound

    The tip of your tongue
The top of your lungs is doing my head in
I say, "Love, love don't mean nothing
Unless there's something worth fighting for."
    It's a beautiful war

    When I hold
    The warmth of your body
There is nobody that I'd rather hold
    Shattered and cold

    The tip of your tongue
The top of your lungs is making me crazy
I say, "Love, love don't mean nothing
Unless there's something worth fighting for."
    It's a beautiful war

I say, "Love, love – it don't mean nothing
Unless there's something worth fighting for."
    It's a beautiful war

    It's a beautiful war
    It's a beautiful war

    I say, "Love, love..."
I say, "Love, love don't mean nothing
Unless there's something worth fighting for."

I say, "Love, love don't mean nothing
Unless there's something worth fighting for."

    It's a beautiful war
    It's a beautiful war
    It's a beautiful war
    It's a beautiful war

    Alabama Shakes!

So much fresh, raw talent in a band! What you hear on a recording is no better than the live performance.
