    Wireless Router Recommendations

My wireless routers seem to fail about every 3 years. I currently have a Ciso/Linksys E4200. Anyone have a recommendation for a new wireless router that can run both G and N bands for about 12 wireless systems plus run 3 network switches on lan lines? Ease of port forwarding a plus.

I bought an Asus router recently - have you looked at their lineup? Double the warranty of most others, still under your 3 year hex though. One of these maybe?

I'm currently using this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-580-_-Product for the past couple years. I also added this range extender to it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-454-_-Product Works great. Does your G and N as well as A and B too. If you need some overkill, there's this newer version available: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-611-_-Product

I had a Cisco E6500 fail just last month. It was just barely out of warranty and cost me $140. It turns out that Linksys was sold by Cisco and is now owned by Belkin. That having been said, the belkin I replaced it with which cost 1/3 that of the cisco version works great and has all the same features. I just hope they bought linksys to let them die rather than to use their hardware.

I want them ALL Many thanks. The G band, which failed once, has been running fine for 5 days following restart and with a small fan blowing over the router. Moreover, I moved all my G-Band wireless computers to a LAN, today, so I have some time to think about this, and perhaps to wait for prices to fall even more. Thanks for the excellent recommendations, and keep them coming, especially for humongous discounts!

I have the model just below this one, the RT-N65U. Had it for a month or two, it's working great for me.

    Re: Wireless Router Recommendations

Well, my NetGear WGR just died this morning. Strangely enough, it lost all the wired connections (including the one to the Cable modem) but is still happily handling all the wireless stuff. So I replaced it with a NetGear R6250/AC1600 and am just finishing up reconfiguring things. At least I should be able to reconfigure the old one to act as a repeater for wireless to take care of the poor signal in the front half of the house.

The price for this replacement was cheaper at the local Target brick-and-morter store than on NewEgg.

I've used this one for both my wired and wireless needs for nearly ten years now. Not the greatest on range but delivers plenty of bandwidth.
