    The Biggest Climate March Ever!

    The Biggest Climate March Ever!

Months ago, our community decided on a crazy goal -- the largest mobilisation on climate change in history. Yesterday, it actually happened. Hundreds of thousands of people marched in New York and in over 2000 other communities around the world. It was a beautiful expression of our love for all that climate change threatens, and our hope that we can save this world and build a society powered by 100% clean energy. Scroll down to see the amazing events that took place all over the globe organised by Avaazers and partners. And check out the front pages of newspapers today!

Not to rain on your parade Duke but....

No where is it written in the laws of nature that global climate maintains a "Steady State" condition. Quite the contrary, history proves again and again that global weather patterns are dynamic (ie, unstable). As such, they are prone to change. Sometimes the change is slow and moderate. Other times, it's nearly instantaneous and very very drastic. Scientists exploring the strata of our precious planet have uncovered global evidence of at least of great flood and not one, but two ice ages. At this point in time, we are overdue for a change in scenery...

Actually there have been 5 known ice ages As for the "great flood", the only one known is the one ~5000 years ago localized around the mediterranean sea. Didn't effect the rest of the world.

Kind of unstable our world clima but for the first time we are the responsible for the change and really don’t know what kind of changes are we doing.

Hmmm, I've heard that before. 5 or 6 years ago I watched a 2 hour documentary about a scientific expedition to the Northwest passage. The NW passage is a sea route above Canada that connects the Atlantic to Pacific oceans and when navigable it is a very short shipping route. Some years they can use it and other years they can't.

The purpose of the expedition was to prove that "global warming" was new and caused by man. The ice was melting in parts of the passage that had "never" seen open water before. When the ice melts a layer of silica (IIRC) gets deposited on the ocean floor. This gourp of 15 scientists were going to drill a core sample under this pristine area and prove global warming once and for all.

So for the 1st 1 1/2 hours they went through all the scientific reasons that this would be the definitive proof. They get to the drill site and pull up a 100' core sample. On analysis, much to their amazement, they found that the silica appeared at regular intervals and went back in time far beyond when man started producing green house gasses. This proved that the ice melting has occurred many times in the past. Since their "scientific data" didn't corroborate their "scientific hypothesis" their conclusion was "Well this time man has interfered" so it will be worse. No data to back up that conclusion but that was the finding of the scientific expedition.

We have 2 old axioms in the US:

    1. Figures don't lie, but liars figure. This means if the data doesn't fit the facts then modifiy the data -or- "spin" the analysis to support your point of view.

    2. Follow the money. A lot of people and companies are making boatloads of money off of "global warming" .... excuse me "climate change" - they had to change the name because the data shows the planet cooling and that blew their computer models to hell. Climate change is a much better term because it doesn't matter if the temperature goes up or down you now have it covered. That scientific group was granted millions of dollars to make that expedition. The same is true for many of the climate change scientists. If there isn't a perceived problem then they would have to find real work.

    Personal opinion of course.
