    This is true. There's no additional chip or something on a motherboard that's SLI/Xfire certified. It's just a title. Same with SLI/Xfire certified PSUs. What makes them certified? If they have a 6-pin and 8-pin power connector. That's it. Put that on a PSU and you can get it certified. As Harley said, it's just a marketing scheme.
