True, but will it be open to being used for SETI?

Keep in mind too that telescopes like Aricebo have a very limited portion of the sky that they can be "aimed" at. So a Chinese equivalent will be similar to the Green Bank telescope and give us a view of a different portion of the sky.

"On May 23, the National Science Foundation, which funds the majority of Arecibo’s annual $12 million budget, published a notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement related to the observatory’s future."

Are you kidding me? An environmental impact statement on something that's been sitting there for 56 years... give me a break. Just another government agency that doesn't have the guts to simply say, "We don't want to fund this anymore".

IMHO and only mine it's about time they quit spending money looking for SETI. Sorry people, I did my share years ago but became very disillusioned I know this will cause some blow back but remember this is only MY opinion!.

RETIRED. NO JOB. NO MONEY. NO WORRIES!

Crunched SETI Classic to the end.
