    Re: DrPop's Last Stand

It's not resolving anything at all?

    What does

    cat /etc/resolv.conf

    and

    ifconfig -a

    say ?

    what about traceroute 8.8.8.8

I tend to use google's nameservers these days (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

The machine shouldn't care about any router upstream at all really.

    KIM ~ # traceroute 8.8.8.8

    KIM ~ # ping 8.8.8.8
    PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data.

    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 130.903/135.092/139.282/4.205 ms
I guess I don't have traceroute installed yet. Don't know if that makes a difference. I assume not.

This is what's bizarre to me. I can ping an address, but not use a service.
    Code:
    KIM ~ # ping www.google.com
    PING www.l.google.com (74.125.224.180) 56(84) bytes of data.

    --- www.l.google.com ping statistics ---

    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 11.182/11.685/12.684/0.706 ms

    KIM ~ # ssh trigggl.is-an-engineer.com
ssh: Could not resolve hostname trigggl.is-an-engineer.com: Name or service not known
Just to be clear, I do manage to use the service without the name.
    KIM ~ # ssh 68.51.6.65
