Well yes, sort of. Stock clocks, memory as low as it will go, fans 100%. Still too hot.

I have a 7870 coming from Newegg, should be here by Monday or Tuesday, don't know if that will run the Moo Wu's or not but will give it a try, it's a Double Precision Card so maybe it'll work ... I'll try Down-clocking the 7970 tomorrow & see what happens ...

I went out & dropped the Memory Voltage as low as it will go, the Core Voltage to 1000 & the Fan set on 80% & the GPU @ it's stock 925 setting, I don't think dropping the Memory helped at all as the Card still wanted to overheat, it's the Core Voltage that needs to be dropped if their over heating ...

I'm also only running 7 of the 8 Threads in HT Mode on the i7 3770K running at stock speed, so far the Card seems to be staying at about 65* @ 95%-96% GPU Usage with those settings with a run time of about 19 Min's ... If it stays running like this I'll maybe try another 7970 ...

I hope this works out for me, I'll be able to get my 9'th 250 Million Project during the Winter Here in Mich & don't have to try for it in the Hotter summer period ...

    Re: 7xxx cards.

Okay, Ste\/e, your good fortune made me try it again. I had totally forgotten that I had put the Extreme cooler on the Gigabyte after my last run in with Moo! So on that Gigabyte, oc to 1125, stock volts, memory at stock and fan on auto, 60c. Times are about 17.5 minutes.

Not sure what's different on the other card, but I have nothing to complain about there either. After several bouts of computational errors I managed to get Moo! to run correctly. Temps are running about 80c on auto, oced to 1125, stock voltage, stock memory speed...times are running about 17.75 minutes each. Maybe I bad mouthed Moo! too soon and it was really my issue. No, that couldn't be it.

Hey Great, I got mine running at 1000 Core now with the Voltage still at 1000, Temps went up about 5 degrees. I don't want to go any higher than that & take a chance on over heating again. I figure running under 19 Min's will give me very close to 500k a day which I can live with off of 1 Card. I'll fire up another 7970 or 2 or 3 or ? lol tomorrow if this Card runs okay over night on the Moo Wu's ...

Have a second 7970 running okay now, run's cooler than the other one but at the same speed & Times, think that will be it for now, don't want to get the urge to Order 12 more 7970's just to run the Moo Project ... lol ... still got 4 sitting Idle now so I don't need anymore sitting Idle ... :/

^%$#@@#$%^&*(*&^%$^&* .... The freaking 7970 & 7870 Card's are acting up on the Moo Wu's, they seemed to run alright for almost 2 weeks but now get hung up on 69% Completion, I've tried everything to get them to run right, under volting, down clocking core & memory, rebooting but they keep messing up after a bit ... )(*&^%$#$%^&*(*&^%&*(

Wonder if it's a code thing. You've tried:

    • stock app vs. opti app? Not all opti apps are optimal
    • Different projects? Collatz is always a good benchmark since it seems to be well coded
    • Milky Way? How does it work there?

Just seeing if it's the card, or the card and the app not playing nice. I have the same issue with one of my EVGA GTX 570s. Took a combination of downclocking and finding the right app to make it stable. All the while my other 570 (MSI) runs like clockwork.

    Re: 7xxx cards.

Neither one of the 7970 MSI Cards I have will run the Moo Wu's now, one of the was running them for over a week then started messing up, so I tried the other one but it wouldn't run them either. I have a 7870 that's running them okay now after I fiddled with it & a different brand 7970 running them okay too after fiddling with it, don't know how long either will run them though. As I'm posting this though I notice the 7970 taking longer to run than it has been running the Wu's so I'll have to go look at that one again & see if it's okay.

The problem isn't that they won't run the Wu's but that they keep downclocking themselve's and take forever to run them. Up to 7 Hr's I seen a few of the Wu's, I'm going to try another 7970 Card, different brand than MSI & see if it'll run the Wu's ...

Moo runs on no one of my AtiCards, 7970,7950,6950 or 5870. WUs can be downloaded but they would never start.
The only possibility I have is to run Moo as the one and only GPU Project, add a second one and the project is dead.
