For my main desktop, I use the SSD for boot drive and for gaming. All my other storage is rotational. Best of both worlds. Our HTPC has a similar setup. SSD for Booting and XBMC. All the movies and music A/V files are on the HDD.
Samsung 840 PRO 128GB SSD - $89.99 w/Free Shipping (Link)
Currently the cheapest price on the Net. Get'em while they're hot!
EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB - $129.99 w/Free Shipping [Price before $20 MIR] (Link)
The new GTX 970 and GTX 980 have higher performance per watt, but if you factor in FLOPS/Watt/$$ this particular 750 Ti is a better (initial) deal by 2.5x to 3.5x.
I already have 2 750 Tis and I'm trying to add a 7970 to my fleet, but this may be too good to pass up!
If you have enough place you may be right, but I have already 14 GPUs ( 11 running, 3 are in repair ) and my only place left would
be outside the cases with a PCIe-Expander (already ordered 2 of them) leaving the boxes open all the time.
I would look for a 290 instead of the 7970, they are so cheap now since the Nvidia 900 series came out.
Even a 290x costs 299,- Euro today. ( GTX970 355,- in Europe )
290 and 290X are both worse at double precision than a 7970 or 280X by about 30%

I know and thats why I dont wanted a 290x. But this is my Gaming PC and I want two 290x for crossfire.
Im going to buy a 4k Monitor this year and I think I will need them for playing all games with full resolution.
... besides 420$ is a nice price.
