I'm not sure if pi made it big time but I thought it was a good movie especially considering its 50,000$ budget.

I've seen that, actually. A really interesting and thought-provoking comedy, but clashes with real actual scientific data. I did really enjoy it...

Lets not forget the best vampire movie ever made...30 Days of Nights
and the second best.....Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter

Then there's Religious movies...The Man from Earth ...well not really religious

And, the old classics...Saturday spook flick films...Godzilla, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, Target Earth, Planet-X, whew that list could go for days.

Then, there's the old Charlton Heston movies, The Omega Man, Soylent Green, Ben-Hur, others too many to list.

Then, John Wayne. My favorite movie of his is, Hatari. This movie was especially great because the actors actually did everything in the movie. There were no stunt actors.

I better quit now, you guys are start thinking I'm an old guy or something.

DUDE!

Those are truly great classics. Not to mention, The Wizard o.....ok

When it comes to, "Journey to the Center of the Earth", I hope you speak of the Disney version.
Same with, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". I'm hoping you where referring to the original B&W version! Did you ever notice that everyone drank and smoked a lot in that film....If you haven't seen it for a while, check it out again. Everyone is a smoking, drinking fiend in that film. Every time something happens, it's pass around the booze and fire up a cig!! Just good stuff fer sure!

AND.....don't ever forget the, "Sinbad" films either!

F*** Harry Potter. That series is so ridiculously boring I can't stand it. (Preparing for wrath now) The only thing that makes Lord of the Rings better is that they only made 3 movies instead of 8.

YoDude9999
04-26-11, 01:14 AM
Ah, which proves my point, you've watched it and therefore you are a fan! Possibly of the Harry Potter, "Hate club", but nevertheless.....

Lord of the Rings..... yes well another story....and very well done. Total fantasy, yet presented in an almost believable story. Good stuff there for sure!

For a great musical, I'd suggest, Labyrinth with Dave Bowie. Another good fun fantasy filled with great times. Kids love this movie and it is not so outstretched that grown ups can't enjoy it too. I've watched that one several times.

@Maxwell: The package on your doorstep is ticking........

Well when it comes to Star Trek movies only the even numbered ones are good. And this is from a Star Trek fan that watched the entire original series during its FIRST airing! That was in 1967 IIRC.

Now to LOTR. One of BEST fantasy series EVER put to film. Period!!!!

Harry Potter... Good stuff but a little drawn out on the last one.

All this talk reminds me of another really cool fantasy movie ---> Final Fantasy.

Did you ever read the LOTR books Max?

I have. Twice.

I have also read the entire Foundation series, Ringworld series, Xanth series, Lord Foul's Bane series, Pip and Flinx series, I Robot series, Dragon Riders of Pern series, Tarot series, Incarnations of Immortality series, Hitchhiker's Guide series and others that do not come to mind.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast.

Maxwell

Never read the LoTR books - tried once, but was so bored, I quit after about 100 pages. Only liked the second LoTR movie because it had an awesome battle scene. I'm generally not a fan of fantasy and found the LoTR movies especially boring. Honestly, the only reason I saw them is:
1st movie: My roommate wore me down. They'd been out in theatres for 4ish months, and I finally consented to seeing it.
2nd movie: My girlfriend's dad bought me a ticket.
3rd movie: EVERY G**DAMN FRIEND I had was going to see it opening night. So I went. Peer pressure works on me.

@F$: I will agree with you that even numbered Star Treks are better than odd numbered ones. But that's like saying sex (even ST) with your significant other is better than kissing (odd ST). Regardless, both are better than being hit by a car (LoTR).

Brit: The Heavy. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Heavy_%28film%29)

This week I discovered Saints and Soldiers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saints_and_Soldiers) and Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saints_and_Soldiers:_Airborne_Creed).

Neither are your usual bombastic war epics. They are very personalized tales that focus on the human aspects of bravery, honor and faith.

There is a third film in the series titled Saints and Soldiers: The Void (http://tinyurl.com/mskla23) due in U.S. theaters August 15th.

Just sat and watched Captain Harlock (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vdw0If6Zzg) on Netflix, very well animated even if the story is a bit stretched in parts. A definate must watch for those that liked the original series or just a good cgi anime..."Oh, Flower..."
