Just had an old laptop given to me and I'm looking to upgrade what I can. It's a Dell, so I can't do much. Anyone have 8gb 2x4gb DDR2 800mHz memory sitting around.

Wasn't DDR2 the one that shipped with an abacus that you could use if you got into a hurry? Or was it the one that shipped with a slide rule?

For you smartasses (Dave & Bryan)...this was only going to be used for boinctasks, not a cruncher. I always crunch with my abacus.

A great upgrade would be an HP graphing Calculator with RPN! ;)

My DDR2 rig has only ever run Einstein during this year's Pentathlon. Bryan and Dave are just jealous they don't have an old toy to play with :D I don't think it did too badly https://einsteinathome.org/host/12527243

I do have some spare DDR2, but it's 2x2GB 1066 MHz and for desktops :(

Thank you John. I'm not sure about Dave, but Bryan should understand that old ain't dead.

I *might* have some laptop RAM in my spare parts pile. It's from a lappy that a team member (kaptainkarl1 IIRC) sent to me in the hopes of resurrecting. I'll dig through my stuff tomorrow and let you know.

Thanks for looking Z. The laptop presently has 2 slots with 2gb/slot. Enough for my plan, but if I can upgrade to 8gb it would be nice. There were lots of problems with this laptop mostly associated with too much crap running in the background and a ton of corrupted files. I seems to have everything running fairly smooth now. Though I didn't plan on crunching with it. I am shaking it out running a bit of Einstein Low freq right now. I should have my star in 2 days just to prove it can.

Okay, finally found what I was digging for. I have way too many boxes of junk. These sticks were totally not where they should have been. Stored with misc case parts (Case Box #4).
Anyhoot, here is the list. I have (x1) of each.

BTW, anything in my previous post that Sphynx is not interested in, is available to any team member that wants it.
