These Stingray bot parts were purchased second hand, because Parallax unfortunately stopped making them some time ago, but I think they are pretty awesome. Roughly 3x the size of the smaller Activitybots we were playing around with before, and DC motors for some serious speed. They're almost too fast for the ultrasound sensors' ability to let it know when something is up ahead. :D Here's a couple pics of Kat and the Stingray bots. Have to click on them to enlarge.

Oh man, for sure. 14 going on like 17 I think. :P She's going to a hybrid high school /Jr college program and enjoying herself for the most part with Taekwondo, Job's Daughters group and just got her SCUBA certification so after me to get back into it. Add in robotics on the side, working on the Jeep, etc...never a dull moment around here! :)

Well, if it brings drinks to a reclining family member, I'm gonna have to get me one too! :)

Better than a Roomba!

Ha! Sorry guys, my programming isn't up to snuff yet. All it can do so far is roam around and *try* not to bump into stuff in the house! haha :)) Someday I want to have it stream video from a first-person viewpoint as it roams around, and be able to detect a person, talk back, etc. Eventually we'll put some kind of gripper on there, and that opens up a whole new can of worms programming strength, coordination, etc. :D Might be awhile before it does anything real "useful".

my wife didn't think much of the roomba. so little in fact that she gave it away, after I got it for her for Christmas. taught me to check with her first before buying presents.

Awww, man! Too bad she gave it away, I've heard they make great platforms to build a real useful bot on top of with ROS, if you just take the vacuuming guts out! :D
