NEW PROJECT

HERE (http://cpu.goofyxgridathome.net/)

The project is now on its own server, the HDD has been updated to a SSD, and stats are being exported to Free-DC. It should be ready for prime time.

SUSA was the 1st team to 1M but there are only 4 of us on it at this point. There are currently only 79 user on the project. HAMMER TIME boy and girls - we can be the 1st to 10M :D

It pays quite a bit better on Linux but they've said they will have a new executable for Windows shortly. The current WU only take 1.5-2 minutes and they plan on adding more sub-projects later.

EDIT: this is a completely different project than GoofyxGrid NCI.

Mumps has joined our little band. The good news is that it didn't break the server :D The bad news is they've run out of work =))

I take it the site is down as I can't get to it

Bryan

Yeah, SUSA was really kickin' some butt today till they ran out of work .... and then crashed. Maybe they aren't quite ready for prime time yet =))

Rick, you should be good to go now. They are back up this morning and they still have work. The validator has finally caught up so when you attach you should start filling your cache quickly.

They said they will start producing longer WU. I'm thinking they realize the server is getting hammered big time because of all the 1.5 minute WU they are issuing -))

There are 8 of us on it now and SUSA is kicking butt big time :D

Has anyone else seen a drop in credits?

Bryan
02-13-18, 05:24 PM
He implemented credit screw to get ready for the longer WU that will be coming and it cut the credits in half. He got enough push back that he returned to the 2 credits/WU. The ones validating now are back to 2 credits so it should go back to where it was.

EDIT: and now he is going to give 3 credits to make up for having cut them down. Temporary I assume ... but I'll take them :D

"This computer has finished a daily quota of 0 tasks"

Huh? Haven't seen anything about this on their message boards. Have gotten this message on both of the rigs i tried running the project on.

Each rig got 1 WU and won't get anymore. Does the initial WU need to be validated or something so the computers become 'trusted' before the quota is lifted?

Bryan
02-13-18, 06:21 PM
Yeah, you have to wait for the 1st WU to validate and then it will start giving more. Unfortunately the validator is starting to get behind ... 28k WU. You need to hit update after it validates otherwise you have to wait until BOINC thinks it has backed off an appropriate amount of time.

I think they are going to run the current batch out and then switch to the 3s. There are 13k WU available and dropping fast and 50k in pending and climbing fast. The joys of a new project :(

And they are paying double - 4 credits each :D They will be adding a new application/version in the next day or two.

It looks like the validator is still having problems and getting behind again.

Bryan
02-17-18, 11:13 PM
We are making progress on the 10M goal - now at 7.3M and I'd guess we have over a million in pending.

The validator is now behind by 624k WU ... that's going to take a while to clear especially since they are still handing out work!

Hey y'all, I've been set & forget on Rakesearch for a while... should I switch over to Goofygrid CPU? If so, what do I need to know? Thanks!

02-18-18, 01:44 PM
well after you sign up you get 1 work unit a day and then it goes to max of 0 work units a day. one computer gets a bunch and the other cant get any.

Bryan
02-18-18, 02:26 PM
The problem is that it gives you 1 WU to start and it won't give anymore until that one validates. With the validator being behind by 900k WU it will be a long time before a WU validates.

Dave gpu
02-19-18, 04:47 PM
I think they are running a little slow, I have (43753) validation pending.:))

Bryan

I checked mine early this morning and it was 383,851 ... that'll be a decent pay day when they get around to it! Can you imagine how many Mumps has sitting in the bank - WOW!

Needless to say, I think we'll be the 1st team to 10M. According to the project we only need 239k more.

Well, it can only be imagined. When I turn the fleet on a project, I almost always hit that built in limit of the boinc server.

Tasks -> View -> 504 Gateway Time-out

Many of the servers that aren't hosted in AWS reply that the View Tasks php script exceeds the server limit of 128 Meg of memory consumed while trying to build that list of my WU's. :)) And I'm not about to go through a HostID at a time and do the math myself. :D

Bryan
02-19-18, 07:47 PM
I'm getting that error, but I did go through host-by-host because I only have 23 instances running =)) I won't do that again!

EDIT: most of my hosts are starting to drop off of the 1000 WU cached WU level. The project is still issuing some work but not enough to meet demand. It's possible we are coming to the end of this run.

Mumps
02-19-18, 09:27 PM
Well, looks like we made it...

HTest for 64bits subset credit 10,028,959 total

Bryan

It looks like the work is over and now we wait while the validator slogs along ... slowly.

Up and running, paying 50 a wu.

Bryan

They released 10k WU for the new test batch. They said they will put out a lot more tomorrow after they've had a chance to see how the new app did. WU taking than 20-30 minutes on Linux.

Best time i have is 1,370.20 50.00 HTest for 64bits subset v20.00, i5-3550 CPU @ 3.30GHz windows_intelx86 Windows 7 Professional x64 Edition.

An E5-2683 V4 running 64 threads @ 2.6G on Linux the time for the 20.00 64 bit app averages about 940s. With the 20.01 app, which is 32 bit instead of 64, the time almost doubles. I sure hope he recompiles the 20.01 Linux app before they cut loose with more work.

They are in the process of releasing bunches of work :D

The Linux 20.01 app (32 bit) was NOT a replacement for the 20.00 app (64 bit) which had a permission problem initially. The server will try both apps on your machine and then choose the one with the highest performance - 64 bit is 2X better.

Time to rock and roll!

Bryan
02-23-18, 01:25 PM
Goofy CPU is paying BIG credits for the current batches ... at least on Linux. Probably also on Windows in comparison to the last app. You might want to load up and run it before the credit cops show up and start their "OMG you're ruining BOINC" routine. =))

Right now the Windows app is 32 bit but they are working on a 64 bit version. On Linux the 64 bit app is twice as fast as the 32 bit app.

Bryan
02-23-18, 05:31 PM
I guess we don't have to wait for the credit cops, the project is going to drop the credits after this batch. Hopefully he is meaning the series after the 1.7M WU he announced earlier.

Because we develop 64bits application for linux and windows we will propably decrease credits per wu from next series <- but it will be still about 2credits per minutes of process.
We don't event have plan to support 64bits system so fast, it's why we planning 25-30minutes per task not 3-5 minutes.

The point is, if you wanna get paid very well you better belly up to the bar now!

Mumps
02-23-18, 05:33 PM
2credits per minutes of process??? That's crazy high credits...

Bryan
02-23-18, 05:49 PM
But that 2 credits/minute may be based on a machine that can crunch them in the 3-5 minutes he mentioned ... ie 6-10 credits/WU instead of 50. He must be comparing to 4G machines with HT turned off.

Looking at the daily stats, I'd say that SUSA is getting our fair share of the credits =)) The more we get now the longer it will take another team to catch us.

Mumps
02-23-18, 06:22 PM
And, at least in theory, Goofy isn't "scientific" enough for GridCoin to White list it. :D

Bryan
02-23-18, 07:51 PM
And it isn't a secure site so no GC ... I'm starting to really like this project =))

Bryan
02-23-18, 09:05 PM
Hey Mumps, since you are pushing me, how about a little race to 10M? Let's see what ya got big guy =)) You had better bring your A game if you want to play in this league though!

Mumps

Hah! I was working on other things and am happy to see you take that first to 10Mil! Congrats!

Bryan
02-24-18, 12:04 PM
Thanks! Well you would have known I had an ace up my sleeve to challenge you anyway =)) Linux is paying very well but Win64 is paying phenomenal :D

I need another day to hit my WuProp hours but I guess I'll have to stick with it until these credits are done. Not that I'm a credit ho! I bet they wind up giving badges like Goofy NCI does. I can hardly wait.

Mumps
02-24-18, 01:14 PM
Well, I'm adjusting my fleet right now so I'm not worried about pushing hard on any projects. Simply building new VM's and migrating old installations of BOINC to larger vdisks. :) So still have most stuff on auto-pilot as things are changing. Which also means I'm late to the WCG party anyway too.

Egilman

Looks like one of your 3930's is running a 32 bit app Jed, ID: 886. It's taking about 4 times as long for wus to complete on that machine. Possibly no <no_alt_platform> on that one? I had the same issue and had to abort all work, then detach and reattach. Then it wouldn't give me work for a day so I had to start up a 2nd instance of BM. Kinda a pain, but it worked.

Looks like the wu count is now going up.

Bryan
03-01-18, 05:11 PM
I wonder what they are loading up with ... maybe longer WU for the same pay. I guess we'll see.

Hopefully they are more of the same. At the current rate we need two more days to get SUSA to 100M.

Mumps
03-01-18, 11:28 PM
Well, at the very least, I have 2.5 Mil points worth of WU's in cache that haven't been run yet, so that puts us at least to the 85 Mil mark. Which implies Bryan should have at least another 5 Mil worth. So only 10 Mil more points to find in cache's to not have to worry about what happens with the next round of WU's. :)

Realistically, what's 350,000 WU's among friends? :))

Bryan
03-02-18, 01:41 AM
=)) Sorry but I'm not holding up my part, I only have 30,000 in my paltry cache - 1.5M.

I just looked at the last WU that validated and it was issued 3 hours ago (9pm central). It ran the same speed and it had the same payout as what we've been running. Either they haven't changed or there were some of the originals still in the hopper 3 hours ago. We'll know for sure by morning.

Hopefully the Golden Goose has started laying again :D

Al

I have 750k in cache...the 2000 wus I had on the machine that burnt the power connector have timed out.

Bryan

The project shows SUSA at 88M and Bstats says we did 12M yesterday so in 24 hours we should nail it!

This batch of WU appear to be the same as what we've been crunching .... paying very nicely.

We only need 4M. :-bd

They continue to load more work on the server - now over 700k WU so the high credits should continue.

SUSA 100M

1st team to that level and a 70M lead over the #2 team. FANTASTIC EFFORT everyone!

The project is still issuing the high paying WU so if you have personal MM goals this is a good time to get them.

HOORAY TEAM! I knew we could do it......

Would have helped more but Rakesearch is in danger of loosing #3 to Boinc Poland so I put my HW back there to hold them off....

Got my 10 million this morning. Moving on...

Congratulations! Please consider Rakesearch for your future endeavours, we could use the help. Of course your desires on what to crunch are paramount....

Again Congratulations!

Yeah I know, already running the AVX2 app on the Xeons and the AVX app on the FX83xx's

They make a world of difference..... (and seem to run just as fast either way, well actually the AVX2 on the Xeons is a bit slower but they aren't running in turbo mode)
