View Full Version : GPU cooling
Ok, I have an ATI 5830 that is having fan problems. Fan keeps turning off and on for no apparent reason. I really dont want to RMA it because I was already having heat problems with it Crossfired with an overclocked 5850. Am looking for an aftermarket cooking system for the 5830. Anyone have any suggestions on a good cooling system and as a bonus to me, how to install one. Many thx to anyone who can help.
To ask another question: will this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=35-426-026&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=3#scrollFullInfo work on a 5830?
Holy smokes, yes - that might be a bit overkill for a 5830, though! I hope Fire$storm will have the time to comment on this thread. He's really good at stuff like this.
This one's (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118061&Tpk=VF3000A)just a touch cheaper and supposedly slightly better.
And this one (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=29323) is just insane...
However...is just the fan going out? You can get a replacement fan from Newegg for like $10. Or a really sweet one like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186041&cm_re=gpu_cooler-_-35-186-041-_-Product)for $20. Just type in "VGA Cooler" into their search and see all the options.

The artic cooling fan is what is on my Galaxy 580 card and it is insane. Full load and my GPU is around 50 C.
