Using Linux kernel 4.20 will cause a significant performance penalty from what i'm seeing around the web. Phoronix has run some benches here for comparison: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux-420-bisect&num=1
It's pretty nasty. Unless you're running AMD. Then there's no performance penalty :p
