Any ideas what the release of the 3080/3080 Ti/3090/whatever cards will do to the costs of the 2080 Ti? And when the release will be? I am thinking of getting another 2080 Ti and wonder if it's worth it to wait for the 3080 release, with the assumption of a large price drop of the 2080 Ti. For most of history, that was the pattern. But then the whole mining thing hit, and the scarcity of GPUs meant very little price drop of the older generation. If that still applies, then maybe waiting isn't worth it?

Mining hasn't been an issue for awhile and should remain that way. For 2080Ti price drops, it depends on next gen performance and pricing. None of that is known yet, regardless of the BS Nvidia states on their PR slides
