I accidentally installed BOINC as service install and want to change that so it can use the GPU. But whenever I try to re-install regardless of what I pick it's still running as a service?

Any advice ?

Have you tried finding it under the "services" control panel application?
You should be able find it in the resulting list.
You could right click on it and select "stop" to stop the service.
Then right click on it and select "properties".
Under the "General " tab in Properties", you could change the "Startup type:" to "Disabled".
While on that page, you can see the "Path to executable" to see where you might what to go if you want to manually remove it.

uninstall
reboot
reinstall

I think I didn’t do the reboot part before

thanks

I think it's important to mention the OS. For some reason my default thinking is Linux. :P

Ha, didn't even realize I never mentioned OS. Linux I could handle ;) It was win10. The trick was the reboot inbetween.

The windows version is the only one that has two installation modes. So if someone is asking how to switch from one to the other, it can be only windows.
