im loooking at these e5-2680 v4 engineering samples on ebay for about $150. does anyone have experience with engineering samples? any issues I'll run into?

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=E5-2680v4+es&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=+E5-2680v4

2nd question: would there be an advantage in running them as singles on two boards rather than a dual socket board? if thats possible.

You can get non-ES for about the same.

FWIW, I bought two of the non-ES from these guys, and they have been running great for a couple of months now.

I put them on a Chinese knock-off CPU, and it too is working just fine.

28/56 cruncher with AVX2, for ~$500 (I already had the rest of the parts).

I put these on. It was close, but they fit without touching.

I had 8x of these sitting around, so I plugged them in and they are working fine:
