It's only got the 192 stream processors but for the price this should make a pretty good card. Any thoughts before I jump? I need to fill the 3rd pci-e slot in my motherboard. Currently have GTX 460 and GTX 260 both factory oc'ed.

Stream Processors: 192

Core Clock: 910 MHz

Memory Clock: 4104 MHz

Shader Clock: 1820 MHz

Or should I try this one with the higher memory clock and shader clock. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=41125&csid=_21

Core Clock: 951 MHz

Memory Clock: 4356 MHz

Shader Clock: 1903 MHz

about 1% slower then a 260 uses 1/2 the power I updated my Nvidia List with this card.

...It's only got the 192 stream processors but...

I'm not going to tell you what to do with your money, but for the same $$$, it won't hold a candle to what a GTX 460 will do with 336 CUDA processors. Same money. Your choice, of course. ;)

Seems like the GTX 460 is the better card for the money. OK, I will start looking for a deal on one of those. I just have the itch to have 4 GPS's in the box since I have 3 slots.

Yeah, it's just the sweet spot for $ / credit right now. If you have the extra $ and PSU juice, then a 470 or even a 570 are VERY competitive for the insane credits they produce. But...going to be more $ up front and more electricity for sure, so ... has to be enough all the way around to go that route. ;)

Here's one on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/GALAXY-Technology-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-460-60XMH6HS3H-/250811423361?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3a65869a81#ht_500wt_975) - I have one of these exact same models.

Also, if you live by a FRY's Electronics, then you can get one for $110 after rebate - details here (http://www.frys.com/product/6434002?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG)

A recertified PNY one from Newegg for $125 here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133394)

And lastly, I have one of these - ASUS GTX 460 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121390) - $125 after rebate from Newegg.

Hope that helps a little, and happy hunting!

Dang DrPop do you shop much :).

I like the 460 for what it is as well, They have a huge following. I personally am more of a 465/470 guy of your going to go to 4 though I can tell you at 2 the room is about 10f warmer then the rest of the house they produce a lot of heat. the 460 is probably better if your going to go with more then 1.

Ok...pulled the trigger on this one. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6371388&CatId=3669
Should do some crunching and with the rebate and $10 gift card it it priced right. Now all I will need is the instructions to bump it up to the GTX 470.

Unlike some civilizations I am domesticated. I think having to drink warm beer is cruel and inhuman punishment. I want mine cold...like it was meant to be. HELP ME BEER!

I believe Danes like the Germans, and the Irish, and the English all drink beer at room temps. In fact some beers taste better if they have NEVER been refrigerated.....

I hate to differ. I spent 18 months in Germany and 2 years in Italy and I traveled all over Europe and I was never served a warm beer. I put 35000 miles on my VW Bug in 2 years and visited from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, and on and on. About the only place in Europe I absolutely dislike is France where I think the people are rude and their food sucks. Give me Italian pasta any day.

EDIT: But I must say that a COLD beer on a hot summersday, will beat any wine the french can make. (even if I like that also..hehe)

Well, I'll be the odd man out on this one, and admit that I just can't stand the taste of beer. Well, I did have one that I liked once - my bro. paid like almost $10 for it at an Airplane "hangout" where he took me with his pilot buddies after a flight...it was a... Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Only beer I've ever tasted that I thought was worth drinking.

Now...blackberry brandy or the like ... :D ;)

About the GTX 465 - no guarantees it will unlock to a 470, so don't get too disappointed if it doesn't. However, it will O/C GREAT once you bump up the voltage a little in Afterburner, and it will definitely give you more credits than the 460. Albeit sucking more juice, and therefore pumping out more heat to do so...but, congrats on the sweet card! You will love the bump in RAC (and so will we all!). :D

12* C is about 53 *F. That should be about a good temp. No I didn't just hit the tourist traps. My VW had a mind of its own and I had the mindset that if you found a road you had to find out where it went and what was at the end of it. Found some very neat places and really met some great people, some of whom I still stay in touch with via Skype.

I am sure that there were a lot of people back in olden times drinking "warm beer" but the beers that they mentioned in the article are ones that I have never heard of and I still like my beer cold. Not necessarily ice cold but like Beerdrinker...nicely chilled. I am not one of those "trendy" people who put icecubes in beer. Maybe we'll just have to get together one day and just hoist a few.:)):)):)):))

You do have to remember, that when beer was first (likely accidentally) invented, there was no notion of "ice" or cooling of any sort and therefore all beer was served warm (room temp). Supposedly monks, "invented" wine and they had the idea to store it in "wine cellars", most likely in hopes of preservation rather than the chill factor. Cool or chilled beer, probably came from this very idea. IIRC, "cold" beer didn't come into play until somewhere in the mid 1800's (someone correct me here if I'm wrong), meaning that cold beer is a relatively new idea, though 210+ years later the idea still holds.

Nonetheless, it's beer, just drink it!
