Even though it looks interesting I still have a hard time believing itīs needed....

My old LGA 775 cooler I can buy a new kit for any socket rigth now....And it will take any CPU up to 140W with ease...I have used it for.....well......4 years now...!

Well if nothing else, it looks like it'd be great for tenderizing some steaks :D

Looks to be about the same size as a Cooler Master V8.

Im with DF on this. Would be scary turning your case right side up with that thing on there. Remember when a back plate was a big deal......this thing looks like it should have a suspension system.

Agreed, looks alot like the V8 seen below.

The Cooler Master V10 is even crazier than this...

In the picture it has a 120mm fan on the outside and a 140mm fan sandwiched between the 2 towers (bet it's fun putting those screws in!). You can also mount an additional 120mm fan on the side of the other tower. That's 75mm thickness in the fans alone. With all 3 fans, it appears that it would be 175mm across the top of this thing. 150mm as pictured.

For the height, we already know a 140mm fan fits between the towers, but a bit hangs over the top. So i'd say the overall height, with the 140mm fan peak is 175mm (165mm without that fan in the center). Just eyeing it, but that should be pretty close.

Looks like we will have to scrap full tower cases and go to ultra full tower and double wide with all the GPSs, 140 mm fans, 200 mm fans and super big cpu coolers. And people say that the youth of this country are getting fat, what about all us old crunchers and their boxes.:)

My Antec 1200's just barely do the job now, I've got a Haf X on the way. And I absolutely swear by my V8's, although I've got an itch to try the V10.

I'm not sure why a person wouldn't just step up to water cooling at this point? I mean, if you need that kind of heat dissipation...

John P. Myers

That's exactly how i felt. All those V8's and twin tower behemoths rely on you having a large enough case in the first place, put alot of weight strain on your motherboard, and even if they do fit, that's a very large chunk of empty space inside your case that's gone. Personally, i went from stock cooling, to a little $25 gizmo. After i hit it's limit, i went straight to water cooling. Why throw away more money beating around the bush? Logic told me to just get the water cooling and stop wasting time and money delaying the inevitable.

I kind of like that logic! :D

I've got the 1100T O/Ced to 3.8GHz, temps @53 or less, under full BOINC load with this $20 Rosewill HSF (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200056&cm_re=rosewill_fan-_-35-200-056-_-Product). Now, if I could just get a little more cooling capability, I could hit well over 4GHz...I can hit there right now, but the temps start climbing too fast for my liking with the current HSF, so backed off to 3.8GHz.

Do you know if any of those "pre-canned" water coolers are any good for an AMD X6 rig? I'm thinking like this kind of a thing (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181015)?

Those are 'ok'. Main issue with them is if any one part breaks/fails/wears out, you gotta replace the whole thing. And if you decide you want to add another liquid cooled item to the loop, you can't because it's permanently factory sealed.

With this one (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_202_604&products_id=22149), you can add something else to the loop, and only fix what's broken.

I've had mine for about 3 months. The H50 was on sale at the Egg with a $10 rebate. The Egg had sent me a $25 coupon for a "New Customer First Purchase" incentive. Seems that when I used my "junk" email account for one of their sweepstakes they thought I had never shopped there. :D

Thanks guys! Awesome to see one in action, F$. Is that you i7 rig? Looks beautiful. ;)

JPM - your cooler suggestion looks nice...double the price, of course. :D Would that one cool more efficiently than the $70 one I linked to, or are you buying mostly "upgradeability" and that sort of thing for the extra $70?

Surprisingly, it has been tough to answer this question lol
I've been pouring over reviews for the past hour that compare this Swiftech to a dozen other coolers - both air and water- and the Swiftech wins every time. But i can't find a comparison between the Swiftech and the Corsair H60 (or even H50). But i will continue searching. In the meantime, have a look at these comparisons:

Swiftech versus CoolermMaster Gemini II and Gigabyte 3D Galaxy II (http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/super_cooling/swiftech/H20-120Compact/page3.asp)

Swiftech vs. True, ProWater, Sunbeam, OCZ, Noctua, Thermaltake, Scythe, Tuniq, and Intel stock. (http://tech.icrontic.com/articles/reviews/swiftech-h2o-120-compact-water-cooling-kit-review/6/) (it beat them all)

Bleh. Can't find anything. Just get the Corsair. It's probably good enough.

And F$'s computer is too pretty. Now i'm jealous. Need to tidy mine up a bit :p

I'm stuck with air cooling. I keep picturing a hose springing a leak and frying my components. Or a pump failure. That's just how my luck runs.

Thanks what I used to think. Then I found out that the cooling fluid is non-conductive so no issue there.

I'm only stuck with air cooling because I bought a third GTX 460 instead of an H20 cooling kit. LOL! :p :D

I am stuck with Air cooling because despite all the research I read on H2o cooling I can not justify the cost of upgrading. I rather buy another GPU and run it at stock with minimum Overclocking of the CPU for the price and hassle of upgrading. On the long term, I bet I win in terms of output.:).

From a frist glance this looks almost identical to the Noctua NH-D14.
http://www.noctua.at/inc/imageviewer.php?item=34&pnr=1

I have one of these monsters, their cooling performance is sensational, probably the best you can get on air, but they are incompatible to so many boards and RAMs and a real nightmare if you have something to fix on your comp.

Did not fit in on any board I'd like to have used, and I even managed to damage the fan placed in between just by doing some usual mounting work.

Interesting you should bring up building materials in relation to cpu cooling.

Today, I am laying 50ft of 1/2" ID copper pipe in a concrete slab. The pipe will be used later as part of a water cooling system for a computer that will manage video streams from my solar array and broadcast them to the internet for remote monitoring. The concrete is over 6" thick and 48" wide holds two steel beams that will support large solar panels. The solar panels block sun from hitting the concrete so it will remain cool 24/7.

Ah well, I got this thread off subject again, sorry! :)
