AQUA needs to set per-application limits, so hosts won't download too many tasks from each application. Doing so is possible only with 6.12.8 and higher BOINC client versions. Please consider upgrading your BOINC client. If you the upgrade, please note that the old "Messages" tab is now available under "Advanced/Event Log" menu item.

6.12 does not have a messages tab. They got rid of it, and force you to bring up a separate window to see it...for no good reason. They consider us too stupid to see that info, without freaking out. So they hid it, buried it in the menus. When we asked for it to be put back, we were told "no", with no justification.

In their forum I read what they posted for their reasoning. They do not like the fact that new crunchers do not understand/misunderstand the info in the messages tab. And that some of the new users tend to panic and post "Help! What does this mean" type messages in the forum. So instead of figuring out a way to EDUCATE new users with a well written Help feature, they did this stupid (Insert your fav. expletives here) thing.

Sometimes I wonder what universe programmers live in.........

That's why it's called the "Advanced View". It's so that you can get the advanced info. I thought the simple view was for the beginners. I guess now they need to rename the "Advanced View" to the "Other Simple View".

There's always command line and log files. In Gentoo,

tail -f /var/log/boinc.log

This prints to the terminal everything that's written to the log file until you hit Control-C.
