Ok, on paper the only thing I can see different between the two is that the 2600 has Intel HD Graphics 2000 and the 2600K has the 3000. Is this the only difference and would it make any difference for crunching?

According to what I have read, there is an unlocked multiplier for the K series, making overclocking easier.

I wanted a K version some time back and because there was none available in Australia, I ordered one from a merchant on ebay. You guessed it, he advertised a K version and shipped an ordinary version to me instead. I got my money back but he apologized by saying sorry I was not aware of the difference. Eventually, I gave up and purchased an ordinary version as still no K versions to be seen here. I am happy for it OCed to 3.9Gig without any power increase and that is hight enough for me.
