Now that Odin (http://www.setiusa.us/showthread.php?1281-The-Project-A-Sequel&p=17936&viewfull=1#post17936) is finished and crunching, it is nearly time for Thor (http://www.setiusa.us/showthread.php?598-The-Gratitude-Post.&p=5292&viewfull=1#post5292) to make his own way in the land of mortals, as in "OK kid, get lost already" :P
This is the deal. Maxwell sent the system to me to crunch for the team. So, it is available to anyone who would like to have it as long as it continues this tradition. The only gotcha is it will not ship until I have the funds to do so as I have some obligations from Odin's build to satisfy first. I should be able to ship in about two weeks.
Thor's stats: Free-DC (http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=host&proj=pgrid&hostid=178871) and BOINCstats (http://boincstats.com/stats/host_graph.php?pr=pg&id=178871)
Basically Thor is a Dell Dimension 2400 w/nVidia 9500GT. This attachment, 218, contains some hardware specs cobbled together from a Belarc Advisor report and a CPU-Z report.
I will be wiping the HDD clean before shipping but if the new owner wishes, I can install a fresh copy of Win XP or a Linux distro of his/her choice.
Anyhow, is anyone interested????

I was interested until you said that horrible 4 letter 'D' word :p

Hehe... it's a nice little PCI card cruncher. And it's not too proprietary (I have swapped the PSU out on that one). The cool thing is that I shipped F$ a broken machine, and now it works again. So WIN!!!

=)) Well........ you could just replace the mobo with something better. As long as its a mATX MB. But as is, it has run flawlessly since I replaced the bad caps.
Isn't the saying all good things must come to an end appropriate here? You scared me off with the d*** word as well. I just finished trying to resurrect one for a friend and ended up putting in in the big graveyard in the sky. I hope someone continues the tradition though.:D:D

Also there is talk about a better PCI GPU coming to retail soon. If we pull our butt together we could maybe replace the 9500GT at some point...
Best of luck to any taker!!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that's it's really ok to send an old computer to the, " Better Place", though sad as it may be, sometimes we just have let them, "Rest In Peace". After all, they've done their job well!

It's actually a ~30k/day cruncher as is. If all the (3) PCI slots were full, it would be more. If/when the PCI 430s come out, it could be 150-200k/day without changing hardware (save the GPUs, obviously). I've actually told F$ that if NO ONE ELSE wants it, I'll take it. I would prefer it go to a teammate who wants a little RAC boost, but won't force it one someone...

Great pics Duke. The first one is really Choice. :-bd
Well...how do I say this? Obviously, it's not like I *need* another PSU to feed here... But, if no one else wants it, I would take it and use it at my office, rather than it go to the big computer parts house in the sky. :D I mean, 30K for us per day is 30K more that LAF, S.G. and SIC* don't have, so in my book it's worth 60K!!! (hmmm...wonder why I'm not a politician? I'm so good at FUZZY MATH!). :))
It could run my Tytron infra-red scanner here at my office, so the electricity is a write-off. heh...but please, if someone else wants it, do take it!
