A friend of mine is looking to upgrade to windows 7 but his current system only has 1 gig of memory (4x256Gig sticks). It is a socket 939 with dual 2.2GHz in it so he is not ready to build an entire new system as of yet. Since it still uses DDR, I figured that there might be some people in here that had some laying around (I have given all mine away). Wanting to put at least 2 gigs in it.

Make sure you look up the motherboard and be certain it can handle more than 1GB. Alot back then couldn't.

Poop! Had not thought of that. Will do. Thx JPM.

Also verify what speeds the MB will support. Some boards of that era supported 2700 as well as 3200.

Yes, the MB will support up to 2 gigs of PC 3200.

Thought I had some but all I have is DDR2-PC4200. I have 2 sticks of 1 gb and 2 sticks of 512mbs that I took out of an old Gateway but I think 1 stick is bad.
