I think you'll love that rig. That case is soooo easy to work with. If you've never used an SSD before, you will love the install times of programs... goes like stink! I don't see a SATA DVD-ROM drive though... I assume you have one to spare to install your goodies.

I love my 2600k.. working it right now at 4.2Ghz on air cooling at 68 degrees with BOINC going all out.

Keep us informed of that build, it sounds like a monster!:D

I just got the packages this afternoon, but I've been too busy to open them or even post.

Yeah, I'm excited! Will post pics when I start working on it.

Omg, I am so dumb.

I put my new pc together and ran into a few issues, but none bigger than the fact that it wouldn't boot. It wouldn't even beep or go to bios at all. I tore the entire thing apart trying to isolate the problem and nothing.

I sat there for a while in utter dejection with the belief that either my mobo or cpu was defective. The thought of having to rma either one and the wait almost made me type /wrists!!

Then I noticed that I hadn't connected the second power cable to the mobo. It was the small 8pin connector hiding in the top right. It had been a while since my last build and I had only plugged the normal 24pin power connector in.

When I figured it out... what a relief!

Only other issue was that my h100 cooler is just way too big to put anywhere. At least not without modding it appears. It may be that I don't even need it as the 2600k's supposedly run cool. I'm currently running on the stock cooler, but I may swap my noctua from my i7 and try to put the h100 in the i7.

...spent.

Since the HAF-X can take 2x 200mm fans on top you could just fabricate a mounting plate to attach the radiator where the fans would go. That is better then modding the case. If I can find all the proper dimensional specs I'll see what I can come up with.

Here is an idea for an adapter plate.

Wow, that's impressive! I'm guessing you must be a mechanical engineer? How would you mount it?

I was able to mount the radiator in a non push pull method by placing it underneath the top 200mm fan bracket. So, 2 fans underneath pushing upward into the 200mm fan on top. I would rather have 4 fans in push pull out of the case, but this appears to be working. The H100 is keeping my cpu in the 40's while crunching full tilt on primaboinca. I'm happy with it.

No, not an engineer. Had two years of mech. drafting in HS plus a year of architectural drafting. Much later a took some college courses for a certificate in mechanical drafting with AutoCAD 12. Just an old hobby for me.

I have a 3x120mm radiator in the top of my HAF X. All you have to do to make the 3 120mm fans fit is move your drives. Such as install them from the bottom up, instead of top down.

I'm also using the push/pull configuration, except i added the 2nd 200mm fan on top.

Nice! Are you water cooling your gpus? How did you mount through the top fans if you did push/pull? By leaving off the top fans on mine, I was able to just use the radiator holes that the fans would have used. I want to add another 200mm fan as well. I just need to loosen the front panel cabling that's up in that space. I love this case! It's pretty quiet as well with the stock fans.

Btw, the h100 works great. I have this pc OC to 4.4ghz and the processors peak around 60ish running boinc. Before I OC'd it was in the 40's at full crunching.

ooops. Yuck... all that work for nothing :(

I had read the pdf manual (Cooler Master is really bad at designing user manuals) and it made no mention of 240mm rad mounts hence my adapter. Oh well.

When I saw you post I checked CM's website and found this:

Question
---------------------------------
How do I mount a radiator on the top?

Answer
---------------------------------
HAF will support a 240, 360, or 280mm radiator with no modification. Remove the top 200mm fan, and use the 8 holes to attach the radiator. The top panel must be removed by pressing on the internal plastic clips within the chassis. Some extreme radiators over 60mm thick, or too heavy may run into some issues in support, although most 360mm radiators will be accommodated with no issues.

Right, but i didn't go by their recommended method of installation :D Although, there were still no modifications. I left the 2 200mm fans on top, mounted the 360mm rad underneath them, then mounted the 3 120mm fans to the rad. Only the top drive bay is rendered unusable if you have the rad's inlet/outlet at the back of the comp (i don't :p the inlet outlet is in the drive bay. So is one of the pumps. So for me, the top 4 bays can't be used. But i don't need them anyway). I have the top 2 200mm fans as exhaust and the 3 120mm fans blow through the rad into the 200mm's creating the push/pull.

Edit: Also, if you have one of those magnetized screwdrivers, you don't need to remove the top fans to install the rad. Just move the blades out of the way as needed to hit the screw holes.
