Capturing a single moment in time can be rather awe inspiring when you have the correct lighting, timing and elements in motion. So I bring to you a place in which to post when this blend of physics and photography come together called Capturing the Moment.

And you guessed it, what can be more awe inspiring than beautiful female bodies captured in that moment. :x

I start this thread with a few posts to motivate you; although I start by posting attractive women, anything that captures the theme is of course welcome.

Very moving photo journalism. What a shame. With care and proper maintenance, some of those would have still been grand even today. And then, not just the buildings, but all that land - realistically thousands of acres just sitting derelict. Who owns it all? Who's going to pony up to finish the demo work nature already started, in order to rebuild?

I wonder at what point will the "elite" who have run this country into the ground with hollow words and vain, empty policies of scratching each other's backs...when will they wake up and see how they have gutted our country? Ripped everything of substance out and replaced it with boards of executives and bureaucracies. How long can our nation survive going around servicing each other...and not producing anything of real, tangible substance? I say this realizing that as a doctor, I am in the service sector myself. Something sad and haunting about all this...it may be just the beginning.

I live near Detroit and it is weird seeing so many properties in such distress. Even many of the "occupied" commercial and residential properties are in need of serious repair. And the truly sad part of it all is that a good portion of the problem in Detroit is political corruption. Detroit has more local officials facing indictment or currently under Federal investigation than any other city in the nation. That includes Chicago!!!!

Detroit was one of the prettiest cities ever built. The problem was that they built these wonderful buildings in a town that was/ is about evolution. Between the corruption, Tax dollars moving away, disrespectful youth, disrespectful bums there isn’t enough good to save it. There is no longer a need for new cars they are purely a want. When you have a town no longer needed and to slow to adapt they can never make it. It the town is now depressed as a whole. It has everything you could need in one spot. That is why the rest of the world is buying it up. Within 10 years America will not own Detroit.

The song is based on the Biblical Psalm 137:1-4, a hymn expressing the yearnings of the Jewish people in exile following the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem in 586 BC: Previously the Kingdom of Israel, after being united under Kings David and Solomon, was split in two, with the Kingdom Of Israel in the north, conquered by the Assyrians in 722 BC which caused the dispersion of 11 of the 12 tribes of Israel. The namesake rivers of Babylon are the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The song also has words from Psalm 19:14:

In the Rastafarian faith, the term "Babylon" is used for any governmental system which is either oppressive or unjust. In Jamaica, Rastafarians also use "Babylon" to refer to the police, often seen as a source of oppression because they arrest members for the use of marijuana (which is sacramental for Rastafarians). Therefore, "By the rivers of Babylon" refers to living in a repressive society and the longing for freedom, just like the Israelites in captivity. Rastafarians also identify themselves as belonging to the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

Yes zombie67, that is what we call "marés vivas" and when some windy condition joins to the tides that always happens. The average waves for the Portuguese coast are about 1,5 meters but we can have till 40 meters as we can see by this wave surfed by Garrett McNamara on January 2013 and that is the biggest wave ever surfed. We have all the Atlantic Ocean with no barriers and in spite we are used to it sometimes people are carry from the beaches for those waves what generally means to die considering the Ocean conditions.

That is why Garret McNamara comes from Hawaii to Portugal to surf but he is not the only one ... he is so to say a bit more crazy than usual. I was seeing that page you posted and it was the same stormy weather.

The "Grotta Mangiapane" (Cave eat bread) is a small and quirky Italian town situated in the Sicilian province of Trapani. It appears that one of the most successful warplanes in the world may have finally found its match.

The McDonnell Douglass F-15 Eagle all-weather tactical fighter aircraft has long been considered to be one of (if not the) most successful jet fighter in the world. However, the Russian Sukhoi Su-35 Flanker-E multirole fighter appears to be, at the very least, just as good, and perhaps even better than the venerable US warplane.
Sebastien Roblin, in an article for the National Interest, decided to get to the bottom of things and presented a comprehensive comparison of both aircraft’ strength and weaknesses.

In terms of sensors, the APG-63 V3 Active Electronically Scanned Array radar is apparently superior to the Su-35s Irbis-E passive electronically scanned array radar, as it is “harder to jam, higher resolution and harder to track.”
