Well, as zombie67 says, always create an account when it's open whether you're planning on crunching it or not.

I'm sure pirates will be open again at some point. Not even sure why they would close it.

It's been closed for quite a while. Not sure why, but since it's a test project, they probably don't want to deal with new folks not understanding what they're about. Shot in the dark guess on that last point.:D
