I have just released GARLI 5.01 for all platforms, which should hopefully fix the checkpointing issue. There should be more work in the system soon, and we'll find out then.

Great news, had a bunch fail out on me after a number of hours into the WU. :)

Windows, Mac or Linux?

Windows. But one of the machines apparently had one come in and run successfully yesterday as I get a couple of credits return. :)

Both Ubuntu boxes are down at the moment. :(

I have had WU's run wayyyyy long, and even with the lappy cooler on full blast and elevated 16" up, more then 1 WU at a time is causing thermal shut down when running with PG GPU work it seems. Everyday I am coming home and it is turned off since Lattice started having work again.

I know this reply is late as hell, but it should be pointed out that GARLI can use upwards of 9GB RAM per WU and last ~40 hours. Depending on your BOINC settings, running out of RAM can cause crashes.

I've got 1 at 95 Hr's now, it's been at 95% Completion for the last 30 Hr's. I posted at the Lattice Forum about it as I expect it will crash at some point like all the ones before it ...

But, if it crashes, will it make any noise over on WuProp? :D

Yup, from what I can tell as long as you don't abort a Wu you get Credit for the Time run at WUProp ... :D:D

I don't have a machine with that much RAM. So I am unable to run one of my favorite projects. :(

When I rebuilt my Box's I set 4 of them up with 32gb of Memory for these high Memory Projects, all the rest of my Box's have 16gb of Memory. The Garli Wu's are hard to run anyway even if you have a lot of Memory. A lot of them Error out after many Hr's of running, I did have 1 run 100 Hr's to completion though so some make it ...

Here is a tip: Use app_config.xml to limit the number of tasks that can run at once on a machine. For example, the machines with 16gb, set them to run no more than 2. For the 32gb, no more than 4.

I just run 1 no matter the amount of Memory, I've seen some of the Garli using over 9 GB of Memory so if you ran 2 on a 16gb Machine you'd be pushing it IMO ... 2 on a 32 or 24 gb Machine would probably be okay but I still just run 1 at a time on 3 or 4 different Box's ...

I will just be forced to build some super-chruncher in the future with more then 4gb of ram.

Maybe just upgrade? Desktop memory is damn cheap now. 2x4gb of DDR3 is only $45.

At the moment, I don't have a horse that can handle that much. :(
