i have 2 open pci slots in my desktop.

newegg has zotac gt430 for pci buss for $70.

what is the credit return on a gt430?

i have a GTX260-216 in the same box, will they co-exist?

I think Mumps was looking into these PCI GPUs...they finally came out with something halfway decent for crunching on a regular PCI bus. I hope he or JPM see this thread and can chime in on what kind of points return you could expect.

i think Mumps was talking about the gt520s

i was looking for them but they are not available yet.

when looking on the nvidia site, they show the gt430 as outperforming a gt520, and the gt430 is available

I have been reading about those GT430 a couple of months ago. I believe itīs a 80.000 RAC card on PG or DistTRGen. The power consumption on the PCI-E versions is supposed to be only 49W - in which case the PCI version must be a bit lower.

I have a GT440 and that does not need the ekstra 6-cord power cable.

the PCI 430 will coexist with other GPUs. At the moment i'm running a 9500 GT along with an ATI HD 5870 in the same box. If it works with that, it'll work with anything.

The RAC with the 430 would be not less than 3x the RAC of a 9500 GT, while costing less than a single 9500 GT. Since the 430 uses DDR3 instead of DDR2, it would actually be a bit more than 3x. You can't go wrong here :)

These PCI 430's are single slot and the massive heatsink would really not be hurt by placing a couple/few side-by-side in your box.

Also, the 430's can do double precision (they will run milkyway) while the 9500 GTs cannot.

In fact i just checked eBay. Looks like if you act quickly, you can sell the 9500 GT you already have for about the price of the 430. Free upgrade :)

Plus any nvidia card will mix with any nvidia card. They all use the same drivers. Once of my boxes has a 560TI and a 250 in it. I just don't allow GPUgrid to run on that 250 or it takes FOREVER.
