So my 3 week work trip is coming to an end and I wanted to order my graphics card update before I left for home so it would arrive before I did. Unforgettably it is now out of stock on amazon and new egg.

or

Anyone know how long these shortages usually last? As in would you wait it out or accept a different card?

Try this link. It says that it ships in 5-7 days.

Just curious....are the EVGA models really worth $40-$50 more than the MSI models? e.g. Do the EVGA cool better, OC more, last longer, etc.?

I have the same card and you'll love it. I've got my up to 900 stable. Much coller than my 5870.

@Slicker, Not sure about the OC or temps but I can say that as far as customer service is concerned XFX and EVGA have been the best. ASUS is the worst I've ever dealt with.

Have to agree on the service aspect. I have XFX and Evga cards and have had excellent service from both. I have 2 oc'ed 465's and a oc'ed 460 from Evga nd hhave called them for some tech support and no hassel and no run around. Same with XFX on my older cards.

I'll spend the extra $ for service.

I agree with DUKE!!! That picture was classic, bro! :D =)):-o

But...have to say ASUS did me right by that GTX 460 they replaced. Took 2 weeks, but they sent me a new one, so I can't complain too much. I've got the 5870 into Gigabyte now, so I'll let you know how their service is soon, I hope!

Some of the EVGA cards have lifetime warranties.

Some of the EVGA cards have lifetime warranties.

Just make sure you follow the steps and register the card with EVGA. If you do they are great for replacing bad cards with no questions asked.

I ended up ordering the card anyways, had to wait a few extra days but its here now! I just put it in my case and am installing the drivers now.

A question now though, I have read a few threads about problems with getting BOINC to recognize the two cards with one monitor?
Thanks

Edit,
So BOINC's not recognizing the new card. I did some reading, and found i need to insert a cc_config.xml file with this.

<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
</options>
</cc_config>

I'm not sure though where to do this...? in the main program folder for boinc?

Edit 2,
So i tried making a file in the boinc folder called cc_config.xml in notepad and put that above code in restarted my computer. But BOINC still wont utilize both cards.

First, the cc_config.xml should be stored in BOINC's "data" folder.

Note: The following was taken from the "BOINC FAQ Swrvice" ---> http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=376

The default directory where BOINC will install its executables to is:
Windows 32bit: C:\PROGRAM FILES\BOINC\
Windows 64bit: C:\PROGRAM FILES (x86)\BOINC\
Linux: wherever you are unpacking it/BOINC/
Macintosh: /Applications/BOINC/

The default directory where BOINC will install the data files to is:
Windows 98/SE/ME: C:\Windows\All Users\BOINC\ or C:\Windows\Profiles\All Users\BOINC\ (**)
Windows 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\ (**)
Windows Vista/Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ (**)
Linux: wherever you unpack it/BOINC/
Macintosh OS X: /Library/Applications Support/BOINC/

(**) This directory may well be hidden, so either put the path to it directly into Windows Explorer, or instruct Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders.

Second, sometimes you will need to extend your desktop across both cards. This can be done in monitor properties. For Windows 7 it can be accessed by right-clicking on an empty area of your desktop and selecting "Screen Resolution".

Sometimes you may also (as in addition to the above) need to use a dummy plug (Link (http://www.overclock.net/folding-home-guides-tutorials/384733-30-second-dummy-plug.html)) even for nVidia. My desktop has an ATI 5830 and nVidia 8800GT and the 8800 needs a dummy plug due to some hardware issue with my Gigabyte MB. This was not the case with my older MB which the Gigabyte replaced.

One other thing to try. If the newer card is a generation above the first card in your system then try swapping card positions.

Awesome thanks firestorm!

I was putting the config file in the wrong folder. I'm very happy to say that both cards are now happily crunchin!

Haha I'll be careful not to! Compared to my 560 I can't believe how fast this 570 is. Literally eating WU's whole.
