The annual Leonid meteor shower runs from November 10th through the 23rd. It peaks on the morning of the 17th. Unfortunately the moon is going to pose a problem this year. If you stay up late, or get up early, look to the East and you may see up to 20 per hour. These are fast moving meteors that hit the atmosphere at 158,000 miles an hour. The Leonids are known for putting on sporadic bursts of meteors. Viewing will get better towards dawn as the moon sets and you are left with a dark sky. Happy hunting!

Thanks Crazybob for the reminder--look forward to seeing this every year, but there's always something getting in the way of prime viewing where I am :(
