I have often noticed how primate groups in their entirety enter a similar mood. All of a sudden, all of them are playful, hopping around. Or all of them are grumpy. Or all of them are sleepy and settle down. In such cases, the mood contagion serves the function of synchronizing activities.

I wrote this message to a friend and I thought it could be posted in here because is a bit for all of us.
There is people everywhere my friend, most of them are just too afraid to show their feelings and hide on a shell made of so many fears or behind the wall of the computing and points.
We are small children learning with the world and always afraid of losing the battles of self (and others) respect. Well if we dont go, if we hide in our choosen shell, we have already lost.
Sometimes we need someone to wake up the good feelings in us, that happens so many times in our lives thru the love of a mother, the support of a wife or the hugs and nice conversation of our friends or the the nice smile of our children but dont worry ...
We are still here, we are still alive, the indiference and bad feelings will need much more to defeat us.
Wait world, we are going to explain that what matters most cant be seen or counted, it is not in the economy and it is not in the points, it is something lighter than air that enters on one's heart and without explanation just makes us happy

I am tired of pushing the update button and looking for apps or cc_configs all the time.
BOINC community was made for people that WANT TO HELP but have NO SPECIAL SKILLS to do it. Some projects and project administrators are making of BOINC a real hell, a big confusion of choices and options.
It is for the projects and their administrators to give the best options to RUN BOINC on CPU or GPU. I dont intend to give lessons for people that are here for so many years but the reallity is that BOINC is getting worst for the common users day by day.
Of each 10 persons that come to help, 8 just go away, it is not that there are less people with the intention to help, if that was true we shouldnt have people working on SETI anymore because SETI is a basic project that people just download and IT WORKS.
There are projects that just dont work except if we push the update button or have the right apps, download the effective libraries, or look for a good cc_config, it is too much for the common user that just want to HELP.
Afterall does BOINC needs help or not because this way looks that we are doing a favor to the projects running them. It is time for administrators look for solutions to make the projects run on THE MOST SIMPLE WAY.

I agree, if BOINC wants users, the need to keep things as simple and easy as possible. I can usually manage to get things to work but I'm not as good at this stuff as I used to be... I've forgotten way too much. :)

I dont believe in people that had never stumble or fallen, I have always a bad feeling about people that it is always right and often I ask, what is wrong about them?
Lately, I am beginning to question if there is anything right about those people that had never been wrong, they never made a mistake, they were never children and for sure they must despise us all made of this human condition.
What makes a great human beeing is not the times he had fallen but the times we got up and it is funny, I cant remember one time that I had got up alone, I rise by lifting others and was rised by others so many times that I just cant count.
It is the beauty of being human on this true condition that alone we lift more quickly but together we lift much more times.
Together we stand. Divided we fall.

STOLEN DREAMS
I am a storyteller, I do it by images and words but mainly by the imagination of the listener, I built all the details by instict, I was always that way and cant remember beeing any other way.
You see, I love to imagine the eyes of the listener wide open while drinks the story. That is what storytellers do, bridges made human dreams to give on every story a lesson, that is our gain, we give the story and in it a bit of ourselves but we always want to plant a dream on others minds.
Storytellers are always a threat. They threaten all champions of control, they frighten usurpers of the right-to-freedom of the human spirit -- in state, in church or mosque, in party congress, in the university or wherever.
All stories (most of them stolen here and there) have a curious and even dangerous power. They are manifestations of truth -- yours and mine. And truth is all at once the most wonderful yet terrifying thing in the world, which makes it nearly impossible to handle. It is such a great responsibility that it's best not to tell a story at all unless you know you can do it right. You must be very careful, or without knowing it you can change the world.
Let us go forth, the tellers of tales, and seize whatever prey the heart long for, and have no fear. Everything exists, everything is true, and the earth is only a little dust under our feet. I need to take to each mood his heaven, hell, purgatory and faeryland. I need to make the beast cry and touch the heart of the rock, I need to to awake what is sleeping and put to sleep what is awaken.
The person of everyday and in the end ... we are all chidren listening in wonder, forgotten of the person we were just a while ago and we are amazed again ... for a small while of ethernity we are the story.
That is what storytellers do ...

If we deny love that is given to us, if we refuse to give love because we fear pain or loss, then our lives will be empty and our loss would be greater. Unless your heart, your soul, and your whole being are behind every decision you make, the words from your mouth will be empty, and each action will be meaningless. Truth and confidence are the main roots of happiness.
Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength, is it the empty vessel that makes the biggest noise?
And so life goes on, full and empty, or as William Shakespeare use to say: "Hell is empty and all the devils are here."
Nothing exists except atoms and empty space; everything else is opinion, even when dressed of science or bigger opinions of the most respectable men, they are also atoms and empty space and nothing else more.

Big Empires collapsed by the whispers and so will Internet surveillance. We cant fight big Empires on a clash war or with technology. It is by the power of the whispers that things will die. It is a pity that no country are on the way to defend freedom and so give power to dictators and installed corporations. In the darkest shadows of the corridors of power they started this but will be by the light of the whisper from the mouth to the ear that will fall.
It were not the barbarian armies that defeated Rome but the power of the whisper that drain Rome and his citizens faith, their faith on the Empire and on his power.
Great empires need great ideals because they need a constant provision of blood flowing, given by his own citizens for the sake and power of the Empire.
Always it was, always it is and always it will be.
It is the power of the whisper that drains the force and trust on the leaders and finally on the Empire people are not ready to give their blood if they are treated like enemies and spied like enemies.

Pain and love both seem to be dancing with hand in hand, always find very difficult to understand how to different things, almost the opposite of one another seem to be attached on their own eternal dancing.
Pain is the absence of love but not loving only makes life bitter, people often know they are feeling pain all the time, they are only so too use to it and nothing more.
I may feel pain when love is gone, by death or only because the other side found a different pass but there is a low price to pay for all the wonderful moments, eternal in a moment, true in only one word, real only in ones dream.
I feel really sorry for the ones than never open their heart to love because that is for me the real essence of living, between love and pain, two things that keep me awake for life.

I would like some apreciation for what we are ... because we apreciate exactly what you are (and never ask for more), I am tired of fighting (almost) alone ... for you and me. Today I am very tired, old and ill .. I am looking for tomorrow ... tomorrow ... tomorrow and you.

To President of the United States Barack Obama:
Congress is about to vote on the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) which makes it easier for private companies to share sensitive personal information with federal agencies.
CISA lacks any privacy or human rights protections — and it specifically fails to protect the private data of internet users outside the United States. The bill runs contrary to the overwhelming public support for more privacy, more accountability, and more data protection.
We urge President Obama to take a stand against this bill, which attacks our basic human rights, and to promise to veto CISA if it crosses his desk.

We cant stop seeing our feelings as facts, they are so personal and attached to each of us, they are such a big part of us that we can't stop to treat them as facts but facts are facts and feelings are feelings.
Actions defines everyone toward others, feelings is part of the way we see the world and ourselves, most people confuse both.
Knowing your heart without fear is to find a way, the way we choose to go is a fact.

Too much love, is it good or bad, can in fact exist too much love?
I can go to quotes and quotes about too much love and don't find one against it. Strange that my experience in life tell me exactly the opposite.
Too much love turn into a living hell with discussion most of the times on jealousy. Almost all of my relations ended because of too much love and not the lack of it.
Not always the other part fault, I have to confess, Immature, insecurity and sometimes just seeing things that were never there. I had discussions about women I never noticed, about feelings I never had and about people that I have never seen, I may had done the same.
The irrationality of too much love burns and hurts and destroy too much and built nothing.
This last years I tell my companions in life that I don't want so much love just need to be well treated and want to treat well also, I want to go to all places without fear of being watched all the time, I want to be myself all the time and want the same to them.
Nothing is easy or comes for free the trust between people is an everyday construction as all human feelings that depend that we feed the love on everyday, like we water a plant to become a flower and so life goes on with the warm of tenderness and some passion in the right place.

“My mind then wandered. I thought of this: I thought of how every day each of us experiences a few little moments that have just a bit more resonance than other moments—we hear a word that sticks in our mind—or maybe we have a small experience that pulls us out of ourselves, if only briefly—we share a hotel elevator with a bride in her veils, say, or a stranger gives us a piece of bread to feed to the mallard ducks in the lagoon; a small child starts a conversation with us in a Dairy Queen—or we have an episode like the one I had with the M&M cars back at the Husky station.
And if we were to collect these small moments in a notebook and save them over a period of months we would see certain trends emerge from our collection—certain voices would emerge that have been trying to speak through us. We would realize that we have been having another life altogether; one we didn’t even know was going on inside us. And maybe this other life is more important than the one we think of as being real—this clunky day-to-day world of furniture and noise and metal. So just maybe it is these small silent moments which are the true story-making events of our lives.”

In Portugal, Ex-Chief of Bank Is Arrested

MADRID — The problems of Portugal’s most powerful family deepened Thursday when Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Salgado, the patriarch and the former head of its bank, was arrested and ordered to post bail of 3 million euros by a judge leading a major money laundering and tax evasion case.
Mr. Salgado, 70, was arrested early Thursday at his home on the outskirts of Lisbon and taken to a closed-door courtroom hearing. The case involves a three-year investigation, code-named “Monte Branco” by prosecutors, centering on the activities of a Swiss asset manager working mostly on behalf of Portuguese clients.
The public prosecutor’s office did not explain why Mr. Salgado was brought back to court Thursday as part of the Monte Branco case.

The Fourteenth Amendment (Amendment XIV) to the United States Constitution was adopted on July 9, 1868, as one of the Reconstruction Amendments. The amendment addresses citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws, and was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following the American Civil War. The amendment was bitterly contested, particularly by Southern states, which were forced to ratify it in order for them to regain representation in Congress. The Fourteenth Amendment, particularly its first section, is one of the most litigated parts of the Constitution, forming the basis for landmark decisions such as Roe v. Wade (1973), regarding abortion, and Bush v. Gore (2000), regarding the 2000 presidential election. The amendment limits the actions of all state and local officials, including those acting on behalf of such an official.
The second, third, and fourth sections of the amendment are seldom, if ever, litigated. The fifth section gives Congress enforcement power. The amendment's first section includes several clauses: the Citizenship Clause, Privileges or Immunities Clause, Due Process Clause, and Equal Protection Clause. The Citizenship Clause provides a broad definition of citizenship, overruling the Supreme Court's decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857), which had held that Americans descended from African slaves could not be citizens of the United States. The Privileges or Immunities Clause has been interpreted in such a way that it does very little.
The Due Process Clause prohibits state and local government officials from depriving persons of life, liberty, or property without legislative authorization. This clause has also been used by the federal judiciary to make most of the Bill of Rights applicable to the states, as well as to recognize substantive and procedural requirements that state laws must satisfy.
The Equal Protection Clause requires each state to provide equal protection under the law to all people within its jurisdiction. This clause was the basis for Brown v. Board of Education (1954), the Supreme Court decision that precipitated the dismantling of racial segregation, and for many other decisions rejecting irrational or unnecessary discrimination against people belonging to various groups.

Nice Justgeo1, now you have time for the important things of life that so often we don't pay attention while in activity.
We are so often taken by the rush of life and have no time or patience to take care of those we love or the real important things of our lives. I don't need to do things in a hurry to have a bit of time of doing nothing or have some time to contemplate my belly.
It is a time to review our goals and usually a time that we start feeling some difficulties, restrained by our health. It is a very different time for us to learn about ourselves and have conscious of the bones, eyes, heart, lungs and other parts of our body that were there for long and we never noticed.
Living is aging, know how to live is learning to get older and older and let the changes take place accepting our new limits but knowing how to live with them. Accept and conform with the limitations imposed by aging but keep on struggling (as we always did) along our lives.
I never loved life so much as I do now, aging is being to me a way of learning how to live with myself and the rediscover of other persons that I never gave attention and because of my endless curiosity the search of new concepts and some renewal of the old ones.
But in this case the vacations are from the forum that is going very well, never since I am here seen the forum so alive with new concepts and some rediscover of itself. Yes, is cutting my activity to 2 or 3 posts a day to have more time to look at my belly.
When the sun stop shining, I will happily take bath on the rain.

Genuine politics -- every politics worthy of the name -- the only politics I am willing to devote myself to -- is simply a matter of serving those around us: serving the community and serving those who will come after us. Its deepest roots are moral because it is a responsibility expressed through action, to and for the whole.
Our duty is to be useful, not according to our desires but according to our powers.
You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.
Be able to stick with a job until it is finished. Be able to bear an injustice without having to get even. Be able to carry money without spending it. Do your duty without being supervised.
This is the duty of our generation as we enter the twenty-first century -- solidarity with the weak, the persecuted, the lonely, the sick, and those in despair. It is expressed by the desire to give a noble and humanizing meaning to a community in which all members will define themselves not by their own identity but by that of others.
Ethics cannot be based upon our obligations toward [people], but they are complete and natural only when we feel this Reverence for Life and the desire to have compassion for and to help all creatures insofar as it is in our power. I think that this ethic will become more and more recognized because of its great naturalness and because it is the foundation of a true humanism toward which we must strive if our culture is to become truly ethical.
In a word, neither death, nor exile, nor pain, nor anything of this kind is the real cause of our doing or not doing any action, but our inward opinions and principles.
The moral law commands us to make the highest possible good in a world the final object of all our conduct.

The (almost) Death of a daughter
And so was the dream of whom saw his daughter lying in a coffin.
That did not mean he wanted to see her dead. Or meant? That dream just concealed a desire to hold her once. Maybe look at her and say, "I love you". But that is not so easy ...
And if it happened again? Because I never talked to her as I should? The praised? Embraced? Except in the New Year. This was the only time he looked at her and hugged her. Kinda fast, obligation. On the anniversary, just pretended it was a day like any other. It was easier.
It seems I had forgotten how painful it is and not able to express the feeling. Why is it so difficult? Should not it be easier? Love, love you, love each other. Ready. Without walls and pride. Some dare to say that parents are so unfeeling. They can tell others, one should not give much importance to small details. Parents do things like this.
Recalled the past and it was not possible to resume the choices. As it was only a dream, and more real than had been thought that should speak what you feel while you still can. She can still hear. Would at least make an effort ... an attempt ... however deep down I knew that everything would remain the same.

In the beginning we need to get out of home, to see if we can live without the stronger chains that we always felt almost like a prison, it is our first declaration of independence.
Later in our life we need to get back and find our way back home, winners or losers of the life we could live, we need the anchors, that one day we saw as chains, to be in the harbor for our last days before we are just a wreck and let the time for big dreams to others, younger than us.
There is a time for everything in life and those that understand that, don't complain about being a wreck or the boat in the harbor, for they know after the storm of youth comes the calm of old age, if we are lucky to get there.

Do you ever felt lost?
What did you miss more?
Those are some of the questions, for the ones that were away for sometime.
And when the world give us a bit of silence, we secretly visit persons and places that only exist in a corner of our mind. It is our secret never spoken that we were for a time a different person.
And we dream about old lovers and old friends. We came back home but we are never the guy that went away some years ago.

Access, Partners Recognize Heroes, Villains on Human Rights and Communications Surveillance
12:58pm | 22 September 2014 | by Access Team,
Today, Access recognizes individuals and groups around the world for their work as it relates to the International Principles on the Application of Human Rights to Communications Surveillance (“the Principles”).
The Principles, endorsed by more than 400 civil society groups worldwide, provide a framework to assess whether government surveillance complies with international human rights obligations. Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Principles, which were publicly released on September 22, 2013. Today’s announcement follows on from the Principles Coalition’s Week of Action last week, which highlighted the Principles and promoted their adoption.
Access recognizes both those who have worked to advance the thirteen principles, as well as those who have taken steps that violate or undermine this rights-protecting framework. Importantly, the below individuals and groups represent only the tip of the iceberg; Selecting only one honoree for each role was difficult, as many qualified individuals were nominated, and deserve recognition for the work they have done over the past year, and in years prior. We are grateful to all of those who work to advance human rights principles.
For their work in 2013-2014, our heroes and villains are: ...

The idea was recently presented at the Annual Conference of the Federal Bank of Boston, but unequal opportunities between rich and poor is also a reality in Portugal, where the upper-middle class is more likely to get a good job.
According to The Washington Post, the study presented by Richard Reeves and Isabel V. Sawhill V. reveals that the school does not always merit of poor students is recognized by the entities, which makes that there is a higher dropout in the lower class. Students have high class, even if they have good grades, do not drop out of school. And often end up working in the family business.
"A kid from a poor neighborhood will not have the same opportunities that have a high class. Incidentally generally know little more than the immediate neighborhood, where everything works as a model," says Melanie Tavares, Institute of Support for Children (IAC). Who has greater economic power can invest in training and even unpaid internships. "The Erasmus program and other experiences abroad also make a difference in recruiting. Needless to be a good student, but have a good resume, and this is not done with school notes," considered the coordinator of school mediation IAC .

The Portuguese Empire was the longest-lived of the modern European colonial empires, spanning almost 600 years, from the capture of Ceuta in 1415 to the handover of Macau to China in 1999 (de facto) or the granting of sovereignty to East Timor in 2002 (de jure). The empire spread throughout a vast number of territories that are now part of 53 different sovereign states, leaving a legacy of over 250 million Portuguese speakers today (making it the sixth most spoken first language) and a number of Portuguese-based creoles. Portugal's international status was greatly reduced during the 19th century, especially following the Independence of Brazil. After 1910 revolution deposed the monarchy, the democratic but unstable Portuguese First Republic was established, itself being superseded by the "Estado Novo" right-wing authoritarian regime. Democracy was restored after the Portuguese Colonial War and the Carnation Revolution in 1974. Shortly after, independence was granted to Angola, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, East Timor, Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau.
Portugal is a developed country with an advanced economy, high living standards and high-quality infrastructures, ranking 2nd in the quality of the road network and 11th overall, according to the Global Competitiveness Report. It is one of the world's most globalized and peaceful nations. It is a member of the United Nations, European Union, Eurozone, OECD, NATO, WTO, Schengen Area, and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. On 31 May 2010, Portugal became the sixth country in Europe and the eighth country in the world to legally recognize same-sex marriage on the national level. Portugal also received international attention for being the first country in the world to fully decriminalize the usage of all drugs in 2001.
Portuguese people have had a very long history in the United States, since 1634. Some of the earliest white explorers to reach portions of the New World were said to be Portuguese. Navigators, like the Miguel Corte-Real family, may have visited the North American shores at the beginning of the 16th century.
There is a monumental landmark, the Dighton Rock, in southeastern Massachusetts, that testifies their presence in the area. Portuguese explorer João Rodrigues Cabrilho explored the California coast for the first time.
During the Colonial period, there was a small Portuguese emigration to the present day U.S., especially to the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Peter Francisco, the giant soldier in the US Continental Army, is generally thought to have been born Portuguese, from the Azores.
In the late 19th century, many Portuguese, mainly Azorean and Madeiran, emigrated to the eastern U.S., establishing communities in various New England coastal cities, primarily but not limited to:
Providence, Bristol and Pawtucket in Rhode Island, and New Bedford, Taunton and Fall River in Southeastern Massachusetts. On the West Coast in California there are Portuguese communities in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Santa Cruz, the Central Valley, and San Diego, in connection to Portuguese fishermen and settlers emigrating to California from the Azores. There are also connections with Portuguese communities in the Pacific Northwest in Astoria, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, and British Columbia, Canada as well.
Many Portuguese relocated to the Kingdom of Hawaii, prior to its overthrow by the United States in the late 19th century.
In the mid-late 20th century, there was another surge of Portuguese immigration in America, mainly in the Northeast (New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts). There are various Portuguese Clubs, principally in the larger cities of these states, which operate with the intention of promoting sociocultural preservation as venues for community events, athletics, etc. Many Portuguese Americans may include descendants of Portuguese settlers born in Africa (like Angola, Cape Verde, and Mozambique) and Asia (mostly Macanese people), as well Oceania (Timor-Leste). There were around 1 million Portuguese Americans in the United States by the year 2000.
As with other European Americans, some Portuguese surnames have been changed to align with more American sounding names, for example Rodrigues to Rogers, Oliveira to Oliver, Martins to Martin, Silva to Silver, Carneiro to Carney and Pereira to Perry.
A general contribution the Portuguese people have made to American music is the ukulele, which originated in Madeira and was initially popularized in the Kingdom of Hawaii. John Phillip Sousa was a famous Portuguese American composer most known for his patriotic compositions.

The difference between men and women begins in DNA: the woman is XX, man is XY. But if the genetic distinction is known, what was not known is that smoking is especially harmful to the Y chromosome, precisely the one which determines the existence of male subspecies.
So women now can say, worst than being a man, is being a man that smokes.

:) Life is the only opportunity we have, not that we have only one opprtunity in life because we can have several shot in our life.
I dont know really if we have several shots because we have only one life or it is the very essence of life that comes with all those opportunities.
I learned to not spoil what I have by desiring what I have not, loving what is ours and that one day we long for, is also a big opportunity.
I live life on the present, never made my life on the future or on the past, no fear or regrets on other times.
Thank you for being always present George that is an opportunity that is in my heart.

An AirAsia Indonesia airliner flying from Indonesia to Singapore with 162 people on board is missing.
Flight QZ8501 lost contact with air traffic control at around 06:20 local time (23:20 GMT) over the Java Sea.
The plane, an Airbus A320-200, disappeared midway into the flight of more than two hours from the city of Surabaya. No distress call was made.
A ferry carrying nearly 500 people caught fire off the Greek island of Corfu early Sunday, trapping passengers on the top decks as gale-force winds and choppy seas hampered the evacuation.
"The fire is still burning," Greek passenger Sofoklis Styliaras told private Mega television. "On the lower deck, where the lifeboats are, our shoes were starting to melt from the heat. ... There's nowhere else for us to go. It's impossible to walk on the lower deck because of the heat."
