PWM Fan Pinouts - Industry Standard & Dell configurations

Just thought this might be useful for anyone interested or needing info.

I am in the process of doing a fan mod for my desktop to help reduce the noise level. As any Dell owner should know, all Dell systems use a proprietary 5-pin connector for PWM fans along with a non-standard layout of the 4 wires used in PWM fans. Since I have already have the info I figured it would be nice to share using diagrams I made. Sorry if they seem large.

I also drew up a diagram for a PWM fan splitter. This is great for using two fans on a radiator in a Push-Pull setup. (Diagram for Standard PWM connectors)

Edit: The 5-pin connector Dell uses is available form suppliers like Digi-Key (Link (www.jameco.com)) and Jameco Electronics (Link (www.jameco.com)). Note that the pins for the connector are sold separately.
