WANTED..

I was reading one of Krackedpress posts and he was mentioning that he had an open pci-e slot for a gpu. Anyone got an old gpu that does not require power KP would be willing to run it in his box. I believe his last one was putting out 15k a day and he was happy with that. Every little stone counts. :)

17'-21' used deck boat. (e.g. Hurricane or Four Winns Candia come to mind). Within 250 miles of Chicago.

Edit: I found one. Hurricane 198R in Howell, MI. Got it cheap but have to have all the seats recovered. Paid less than half of what they get in TX, GA, or FL for the same boat. I'll post pics once I get it finished.

I really want an Intel board with 8memory slots to get 64Gb for my database server! Unfortunately they are all LGA2011 so would require the new Core i7 chips too. Maybe next year :)

btw can ayone confirm whether the Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 I currently use (with 4x4Gb ) supports 8Gb Ram, particularly the G.Skill ones which are on sale at Newegg for $99 per 16Gb ? I can't find any proof they are supported though I suspect so..

Take a look at Newegg's memory finder list for that board ---> http://www.newegg.com/MemoryFinder/?name=Memory-Finder#zEbClBE0fe0AED

G.Skill starts at page 28.

I have been meaning to post something over here for some time now. I have some old MB's with p-4 cpu's and memory, not worth much but they do have a pcie slot in them, so they will run a GPU any one that would want one or two I would be glad to send them your way. I'm not sure how many I have but I think at least 4. They are collecting dust here. Most have hyper-threading if it matters.

Thanks guys, KP is going to love that! I had wanted to give him Bryan's old HD 4850 that's in my Dad's rig, but he decided to wait for his upgrade, so it didn't pan out...at least not yet.

Any working GPU that is supported by the projects, is better than no GPU.

How many streams does a 4850 have? It looks like they are 800 streams, but every place I look no longer sells them.

I wonder how it would be for me to one day have a PCI - 80 stream 5450, a PCIe x1 5450, and the best ATI or CUDA card for the PCIe x16 slot. I just looked and you still can get the PCI and PCIe x1 GPU cards, but at a premium cost. Can you have a mix of ATI and CUDA cards installed or is it not worth the issues with the drivers?

ATI stopped production of the 4850 some time ago. Funny thing is most of the other 4xxx series cards are still available from ATI's 3rd party vendors. And yes you can mix ATI and nVidia in a single system as long as you have WinXP Pro or higher. XP Home might also support that but I have never tried it. You can also mix PCI & PCI Express GPUs on a single system, as reported by John P. Myers.

I use Ubuntu/Linux, not Windows for my desktop. Wanted something more stable than Windows for it.

In that case I do not think it is possible. I have not seen anything on the net that says otherwise.
