View Full Version : Any explanation for GPU jumping all over the place with Moo!?

So everything is going great in Brandon's rig that we re-built him over the holiday. Cranking out the credits, I have the X6 O/Ced just a bit to 3.6GHz and it's running very stable at 55C under 100% load and with the GPU crunching as well.

Strange thing is, when we run Moo! on it, the GPU % utilization is all over the place! Nothing is running in the background. Fresh install of Windows 7 64bit, and the rig has 8GB of DDR3 1600 RAM, so it can't be some kind of bottleneck there.
The weird thing is, it does this whether or not I crunch on the CPU at all. So it's not some issue with CPU bottleneck either. Very strange.
Do you think I should try an older driver version? I installed the latest 11.2 version, posted on 12/13/11 -- maybe that is not a good one for the HD5870?

Here is a screenshot, and thanks for any help or suggestions! I am stumped on this, and we are flying out late tonight.

Did you run the Moo Core benchmark?

Data\Projects\moowrap.net>dnetc518-win32-x86-stream.exe -bench

I've been seeing this as well. How are your times? I also have to leave a core available for Moo.

Hmmm...interesting. I upped the O/C to 950 and dropped the RAM to 950 - so they are matched, and low and behold . . .flat lining again. So much better, and this is with PG running 100% on CPU as well! :D

No, I forgot to do that benchmark on this rig. I will try that when we get back from the store in a few hours. Thanks, F$! :o
