So like I couldn't sleep again and now really, really bored. And so like what the heck, why not....

Awhile back, I finally bought a pair of Akasa Viper 140mm fans to replace the big noise makers that came with my 730x.

Dell fan specs:
. Mfr. Nidec
. P/N: TA 450DC B35502-35
. Size: 119mm x 119mm x 38mm
. Type: PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)
. Rated Voltage: 12V
. Operating Voltage: 4.0~13.40 VDC
. Input Current: 1.40A
. Speed: 3600 RPM
. Air Flow: 130 CFM
. Noise Level: 50 dBA
. Bearing System: Dual Ball Bearing

Akasa fan specs:
*Dimension: 140 X 140 X 25mm
*Fan speed: 600~1600 RPM
*Max airflow: 110.61 CFM (141.75 m3/h)
*Max static air pressure: 3.12 mm H2O
*Noise level: 12.5-26.01 dB(A)
*Voltage rating: 12V DC
*Bearing: HDB (Hydro Dynamic)
*Fan life expectancy: 50,000 hours
*Connector: 4pin PWM
*Product code: AK-FN063

Since there are no mount points on the inside of the case for front fans I decided to use clear acrylic sheet to fab the mounting plate. I wanted something as easy to cut and shape as plywood, but without having to go through the drudgery of filling and sanding. And something less dangerous to work with then heavy gauge sheet metal. The mod isn't finished yet, its been it this state for 7~8 weeks, but at least I can hear myself think now as the pair of Vipers make less noise then the two fans on my 5830's Zalman cooler. When it is finished, the mod will resemble the fan shrouds of the original setup.

I've never seen someone do more with a Dell box than you. ;) Very nice.
