View Full Version : POEM: Credit overgranting

RSS

There has been a change in the runtime estimation algorithm and therefore high credits are granted. This will be only during this week. Throughout the week we will reduce the credits for the high yielding workunits again and again.

Go for you 25M then. Looks like it's only a little over (2) 4 hour ATI WU's to get there...

According to a few threads in their forum, the ATI WU's are scarce.

I picked up 80 or so early this morning on 1 Box but their just paying regular Credit, I just picked up 1 on another Box & am running it now, their going to correct the Credits anyway so any big gain you get now will be taken away later at least according to what the Projects saying ...

Here we go again with the saga of too much credit. Somebody (?DA) or the credit police must be wielding a big stick and are threatening projects if they go above a certain credit limit. Personally projects that give and take away credit are placed in the lower end of projects to crunch in my book...

We're talking about 11 Million Credits for 1 40 Min Wu, a Tad to much I think ... ;)

I am out of place here, it is my bad... I should not have opened my mouth before knowing the circumstances. In this case, I agree, but what made me see red is the way the RSS read, we will reduce the credit time and time again.

Something that happens every now and then with Admins with English as a second language. When I read it, I didn't think they meant would be touching the ones that got god-awful-huge credits, just tuning the process for the subsequent ones. ;)

Reading the threads on their fora cleared it up just a bit. I'll still see if it's worth jumping over to make a dent in the next 5 Mil Project for me. :)

I'd be happy to just get a wu. I upgraded to 7.0.15 and still nothing.

Wow, nearly 2 weeks now and still I haven't received a single wu. I have BPU set to check every 2 min 30 secs. boinc 7.0.18, amd 12.1 (hd 6970). Is there anything out of the ordinary that needs to be done for this project or is it just a waiting game?

What is the mandatory server back off when you ask for a task? Default is 7 seconds, but they may have changed it. In any case, set BPU to back off + 2 seconds. That should do it.

Also, do you have BOINC 7.x installed? That is a requirement.

As stated, I have installed boinc 7.0.18. The boinc messages entries only show this whenever it tries to update:

2853 Poem@Home 2/24/2012 11:38:51 AM update requested by user
2854 Poem@Home 2/24/2012 11:38:55 AM Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.

2857 Poem@Home 2/24/2012 11:38:57 AM No tasks sent

I can't edit the BPU from the edit menu to use exactly 2min 7 seconds as it always crashes. But it does allow me to edit the number in the main window by saying '2.12' for the time. That actually comes out to 2min 7secs. The log entries haven't changed.

I never see a message about backoff time for poem.

This is what mine looks like:

It may be that I have more stuff turned on in my cc_config.xml to show me that. In any case, why are you setting it to 2 min 7 sec? Set it to 0 min 9 seconds, or .15 minutes in BPU.

Lol, I didn't set it that low because I thought maybe it would be spamming them too much. But it's now set at .15. Thanks for your help!

7 seconds = 7/60 of a minute = 0.12 of a minute in decimal. So 2 minutes 7 seconds = 2:07 = 2.12 minutes. I can see where the display is confusing though. I'll see what I can do about that....

There wasn't any confusion about the .12 approximately equaling 7 seconds. That was pretty obvious. It was just that I couldn't edit the time via the edit menu (edit menu->edit host/project) without it crashing.
