If anyone who lives in the Arkansas area wants to know where NOT to take their car for skilled labor let me know. It's in Cabot so JPM may want to pay attention.
A&B Imports "engineered" this for me after screwing up the circuits for my steering wheel horn buttons. Then they wanted to charge me for the privilege. They decided not to after my face turned purple. I'd make them fix it, but I've seen how they "fix" things.
Well, it's an older car, so it's not going to be perfect.

That looks like something my friends and I would have done for a Demo Derby car but for the ignition... not horn

...and people don't think Americans take pride in their work any more. I wonder why?
My hunting buddy bought a brand new Kia Sorento but it didn't come with the fog lamps installed. So, the dealership installed them. The switch mounting was about the same as your picture except that they didn't even run the wires inside the dash! Rather than drill a hole, they ran them down to where they could fit them between a seem in the dash panel.
It also reminds me of my first car which had an aftermarket cruise control installed. The on/off/set switch was mounted under the dash. The cruise didn't shut off when you hit the brakes either. Talk about a hazard. The A/C controls where broke, so I mounted a couple toggle switches next to the cruise control for that and then added another for the stereo equalizer/booster. (Hey, I figured if they could do it, so could I!)

To add insult to injury, there's a perfect reflection of it when I look at my side view mirror. That's a nice reminder.

Did they mount one of those big red EASY buttons on the center counsel? I guess the good news is that you should be able to find it fast.;)

Can't miss it.:o):-o8-}
Ironically, it's easier to find than the buttons on the steering wheel.

On those old cars, aren't the side mirrors supposed to be dangling from the door by just the mirror adjuster cables? I guess people which cool chrome switches on their dash also have working mirrors!

That's only on the advanced model. I don't have any cables going to my mirror. Mine would have to be hanging on by duct tape (like my neighbor's Pontiac).

na thats only in the cities with narrow streets.

I got my Rodeo to another shop today. This is the shop that local cars are sent to get their airbag work done. They tell me the clock spring is bad. They have to order one from the dealer (the closest one is Memphis). Don't know how long this is going to take or how much it's going to cost. I'm going to do what I can to get A & B to pay for it, though. I'm told you can get a ruling pretty easy in small claims court with a good, but not perfect amount of evidence.
The small claims thing might just work but remember to go after things like lost time and travel etc. Put the maximum amount of your small claims court (usually 5,000-10,000) and then settle for less. You should be able to get enough to remove that push button and repair the dash. Make sure you take pictures, pictures and more pictures as well as the bill from the first shop and the second shop.
The clock spring is an easy fix but I don't know the cost on your car.

JB Salvage (the place that's fixing the clock spring) called and told me the Rodeo is ready. The total bill is $277.95. A & B will be getting a bill from me by way of certified letter. I'll let them know that if they pay it, they'll never hear from me again. The implication being that I won't sue.

Good man. They better take you up on it too. If they keep this up they might find it hard to renew their business license at some point...

What they broke:

This is a "clock spring". You can see where the horn lead on it was ripped and how close the 2 airbag leads were to being broken.
And the horn is fixed:

Maybe its time to fab some SETI.USA badges to cover those unsightly screw holes left from Big Bird's Button.

There's plenty of Rodeos in the junkyard down the street to replace that small panel.
