Greetings and Salutations:

I'm brand new in this forum, so I don't know whether I'm doing this correctly or not.

I've been a member of this team for quite a while, but didn't realize there was actually a web site where I could actively participate.

Anyway, at the moment, I don't think I have anything constructive to say.

So, I'll just sort of watch what you all do, at least for a little while.

Currently, I'm sixty-six years old and reside at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (http://www.afrh.gov/afrh/gulf/gulfcampus.htm) in Gulfport (http://www.ci.gulfport.ms.us/), Mississippi (http://www.new.ms.gov/Pages/PortalHome.aspx).

I'm a convert in The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints (http://www.lds.org/), and a disabled war veteran, having been a soldier in the United States Army (http://www.army.mil/), where I served in the old Republic of Viet Nam (http://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/vm.html) with the First Signal Brigade (http://8tharmy.korea.army.mil/1sig/) and the One Hundred and First Airborne Division (http://www.campbell.army.mil/units/101st/Pages/default.aspx) "Screaming Eagles (http://www.campbell.army.mil/units/101st/Pages/default.aspx)".

Part of the reason I participate in the S.E.T.I. (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/) project is due to my chosen faith, for the "Mormon (http://mormon.org/)" people believe that God created MANY worlds, just like our own, and that those planets are inhabited by people who look just like us, for we are all children of our Heavenly Father, and are quite literally created in His physical image.

I'm the officially appointed bard for my ancient Scottish (http://www.scotland.org/us/) clan, Clan Henderson (http://www.clanhendersonsociety.org/).

I love railroad trains, whether I'm a passenger, or just watching them go by, and I also enjoy solving crossword puzzles and codeword puzzles.

My other passion is driving my 2004 Ford F-150 XLT (http://www.flickr.com/photos/writesong/sets/72157624135445099/show/) four wheel drive pickup truck.

If you want to know more about me or my interests, just click on my signature, for it is an automatic link to my personal web site, "OUR ETERNAL STRUGGLE (http://writesong.blogspot.com/)".

Also, I'm an "undiscovered" amateur singer/songwriter, and you can see my homemade amateur videos of me performing various songs at MY VIDEO CHANNEL (http://www.youtube.com/user/writesong) on the YOU TUBE (http://www.youtube.com/) web site.

I love to chow down on both cookies and spam (http://www.spam.com/), but I haven't yet figured out how to retrieve them from my computer.

Maybe my nose is stopped up, or something, because, even though I'm sitting right in front of this computer, I can't even SMELL all those cookies and all that delicious spam (http://www.spam.com/).

By the way, what kind of cookies are they?

I hope they're coconut macaroons.

Mmmmm, boy, that would just about be downright larrupin'.

As an "Army (http://www.army.mil/) brat" (i.e., "like father, like son"), I was raised on spam (http://www.spam.com/), for Mama would roast it in the oven and serve it to us with spaghetti and cheese.

I suspect the FBI (http://www.fbi.gov/) might be after me, because I'm truly a cold-blooded cereal killer, repeatedly murdering bowls of hot cream of wheat with brown sugar on top, while showing no remorse.

Thank you.

Welcome to the boards John! It's great to have you here. Unfortunately, the SPAM we get here isn't very tasty and the cookies are very disappointing also.:D If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. We're glad to help.

Hello John and welcome to the boards. Glad you found us. I think most of us started with Seit and have since branched out to other projects. Take a look around. Any questions, just ask.

Beerdrinker:

That's just grrr-REAT!!!

I was adopted when I was a baby, but the mother who gave birth to me was pure Danish, for both of her parents had emigrated from Denmark to settle in Wyoming.

So, that makes me, biologically, one half Danish.

Their family name was Albertson, and I know almost nothing about them.

I reckon you know that Denmark has been in the news a couple of years in a row as the country having the happiest people in the World.

If you do a search at my personal web site, "OUR ETERNAL STRUGGLE (http://writesong.blogspot.com/)", you'll find I've posted some videos about Denmark.

Alas, although I spent a year in Germany serving with the United States Army, I never did visit Denmark.

Sometimes, when I was on leave from the Army, and visiting my sister in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, I would attend church services at the nearby DANISH ward of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints.

I couldn't speak Danish, and they didn't speak English, but I sure enjoyed being there.

Many, MANY years ago, when I was still married and newly discharged from the United States Army, my wife and I were going to have a house built in Grantsville, Utah.

Unfortunately, that deal fell through because my income was too low and my debts were too high.

However, the two guys who were building the house came from Denmark, and during the Second World War, they had both served in the Danish resistance, fighting against the German occupation.

I'm now divorced, but my wife's ancestry (her maiden name was Hansen) was a combination of Danish and English.

A couple of years ago, while driving across country, I stopped in Elk Horn (http://www.danishvillages.com/), Iowa (http://www.iowa.gov/) and toured the DANISH IMMIGRANT MUSEUM (http://dkmuseum.org/).

You should SEE that town!

It's quite evident that the population of Elk Horn, Iowa consists mostly of descendents of Danish pioneers.

Duke, Et Alia:

I reckon my original compositions could mostly be categorized as Country/Western/Folk ballads.

Here is the URL where you can view the original material that I currently have posted on the Internet:

Here is the URL to view my homemade amateur recordings of ME (http://www.youtube.com/user/writesong)(!) singing some of my favorite songs that other people wrote:

Because I lack formal education, I don't know how to read or write music, so everything I do must be memorized and performed "by ear".

I'm strictly an amateur performer, and completely unknown.

Thank you.

Very nice writesong. I couldn't help noticing that you have a song for MOON. You will get much more inspiration in here. MOON will be a constant presence in your life from now on.

Moon aka Ingrid is the leader of Sicituradastra Team if you don't know that already. I made a video for her in the old times also.

Welcome to the team and forums. I've never had spam (mostly vegetarian) but I've been to the SPAM museum in Minnesota, it's pretty awesome.
