That's why they have a separate lap board on BBC America's Top Gear for Formula 1 cars. It just isn't fair to the other supercars or even race cars for the Formula 1's to be in the same category as them.

F1 is what other car makers dream of

That's a very dramatic comparison. I heard with the downforce of the F1 cars, they could drive on the roof of a tunnel if they wanted to. That would be sweet having that much HP under the hood.

I've heard the same is true of the Indy cars. Maybe that's why Danica Patrick keeps lifting off when entering the corners and getting bumped (and knocked out of the race) in Nascar. She's not used to all the wiggle compared to her previous rides and it takes more skill when the field is so close and the cars are all on the verge of being out of control all of the time. That's still nothing like the F1 road races where the world goes by in a flash.

Very true! But I think Nascar is paying her a LOT more then she would get from F1. Nascar has never had a "Pretty" driver until now.... :P

The top F1 drivers are the highest paid drivers in the world....by a large margin. Or do you mean that F1 wouldn't pay her anything, so she stands to make more at NASCAR where they pay her at least something?

Here (http://www.crash.net/f1/news/180405/1/f1_2012_driver_salaries_revealed_-_but_who_earns_most.html) are the F1 driver salaries. Keep in mind, this is straight salary, and does not include endorsements.

I tried to find something similar for NASCAR, but all those lists (http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenhausen/2012/02/22/nascars-highest-paid-drivers/) include endorsements. Even so, the top F1 driver (Alonso) makes more in straight salary, than the top NASCAR driver makes including endorsements.

In general, NASCAR is small peanuts compared to F1. According to this (http://jacksonville.com/sports/racing/2012-02-16/story/pit-road-money-pit-costs-field-nascar-team-are-staggering), Sprint Cup costs ~$400k/race to be competitive. That is $400k * 36 races = $14.4M. Round up to $20M. It is not clear if that is per team or per car. So let's double it for a two car team...$40M. For F1, the top teams each spend $100-200M/year (including the manufacture of 2 cars and spares, drivers, R&D, etc). I would be willing to bet Ferrari spends even more.

It all comes down to this: The Daytona 500 had ~37M viewers this year. F1 has ~527M viewers world wide...massive amounts of revenue. And the teams share in that to a degree.

Right. It would take her a loooong time before she came close to a top tier F1 paycheck, and only if she could produce. Endorsements would be a different story altogether. She will make tons no matter what kind of car she drives.
