Slicker

As a somewhat frequent NewEgg customer, I often get emails about their sales. Today I got one about a great deals on refurbished items. The laptops and desktops are old. Real old. As in P4 old. Not really any deals there unless they are giving them away. PC w/ 80GB HDD and 2GB RAM? Really? People still buy that stuff? I guess if all you want to do is browse the Internet they would work OK. Continuing down the page it items, two jump out at me.
The first is a 1TB WD hard drive for $65. That seems pretty good until you consider that I have at least 9 of them and never paid more than that when they were new. And, it hardly seems right to charge $65 for a refurbished 1TB HDD when you can get a 2 TB hard drive that is NEW for $99 on sale.
The second item that caught my eye is a Netgear wireless N router for $19. It seems like a great deal until you read the specs and find out all the ports are 10/100 Mbps. What good is a 300 Mbps wireless connection when you can only talk 100 Mbps to any wired equipment on the LAN/WAN? That's like putting lipstick on a pig!
But, way down at the bottom, I did find a deal. The LinkSys AE2500-RM which are USB Wireless-N network adapters were on sale for 66% off. I own several already and have am impressed with them. At only $12.99, I bought several more. The work quite well with my Cisco 3000 Router. The adapters actually have Cisco printed on them as LinkSys is owned by Cisco and Cisco usually reserves their name for the higher end network gear.
