Hey, welcome aboard. Oh, and my parents retired in Maine when I was 16; though the winter of 1996 did me in with all the snow we saw that year :o Ended up moving out to New Mexico for a time (11 years) where I also attended college, in the summer of 2007 incidently. Anyhow, welcome aboard...

Welcome to the team and boards. I was in Maine last year for a wedding, beautiful place, and cheap lobster! Glad to have you here. Feel free to ask any questions you have.

Hi there! I just want to say I am happy to be a part of this team. :)

Welcome! What part? I have a bunch of relatives in Maine! I especially like the Acadia and Bar Harbor area.

Fun fact for the team, Acadia is where the term Cajun comes from. A bunch of french from the Acadia area of Maine and Canada were exiled and ended up in Louisiana.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cajun

"Cajuns ( /ˈkeɪdʒən/; French: les Cadiens or les Acadiens, [le kadjɛ̃, lez‿akadjɛ̃]) are an ethnic group mainly living in the U.S. state of Louisiana, consisting of the descendants of Acadian exiles (French-speakers from Acadia in what are now the Canadian Maritimes). Today, the Cajuns make up a significant portion of south Louisiana's population, and have exerted an enormous impact on the state's culture.[1]
While Lower Louisiana had been settled by French colonists since the late 18th century, the Cajuns trace their roots to the influx of Acadian settlers after the Great Expulsion from their homeland during the French and Indian War (1754 to 1763). The Acadia region to which modern Cajuns trace their origin consisted largely of what are now Nova Scotia and the other Maritime provinces, plus parts of eastern Quebec and northern Maine. Since their establishment in Louisiana the Cajuns have developed their own dialect, Cajun French, and developed a vibrant culture including folkways, music, and cuisine."

Oh Gawd, when my father was visiting in New Mexico once, and speaking of Acadia, when he was atop the Sandias and was told he was 12,000 ft above sea level, he told them "oh that's nothing. Acadia is 27,000 ft above sea level" :)) Umm yeah, the foot hills in the eastern US isn't like Mt. Everest :)) The native American who hadn't traveled much I'm gathering, and it wasn't until we were leaving he commented "oh, did I say 27,000 ft? I meant 2,700 ft. I guess this is taller" Umm, well yeah, the rockey mountains would tend to be taller then the foot hills we have back east :))
