Yes they do! A lot of the sub projects currently are out of work!

In my run to 100 projects ... I'm not there yet, I found something interesting. There are 4 NCI projects (3 quake reporting and 1 radioactivity) that require sensors. They WILL run without sensors AND WuProp will record the time just like if you had sensors. Obviously you will never generate any credit for your work but you will get the time for WuProp. On the projects that I don't want to show up on my main account I've been running them under a different account. WuProp doesn't care what account the projects are under.

FWIW, I have 155 apps with time. 122 with color (>100 hours), which is 6 hypothetical stars. But seriously, there are at least 50 projects with work, and about 100 apps with work too.

That is if you have Windows, Linux, Darwin, and GPUs at your disposal. If all you have is Windows there isn't enough to get to 100 right now. Some of your projects like Physics that has 8 subprojects is down, RNA only has 1 sub now etc etc. For days I've been grabbing everything that comes up and I'm still short ... very close but short :))

With the WCG GPU project winding down I may do that but I'll be powering down most of the machines for the summer so it will take a while. I need to get another Nvidia GPU so I can up the badges at GPUGrid.

There are actually 4 Quake reporting projects ... I forgot La Red de Atrapa Sismos and there is the radioactivity project as well. So there are 5 projects that are non-computer intensive and you DON'T have to have sensors to run them.

After getting them all to 100 hours and qualifying them on WuProp I tried an experiment. You can run ALL 5 projects simultaneously without a problem and they use very little CPU power. So for those wanting to change color of their stars these are MUST RUN projects (IMHO) :))

When you get the hours to where you want them on one of the projects just ABORT the WU and then UPDATE the project. WuProp moves the hours from pending to valid hours run when the WU is reported ... it doesn't care if the WU finished normally or was aborted - it only cares if it was reported.

No not really, all they've done is added higher levels to the Badges they already have, you still can only have a max of 17 Badges as it stands now. I have no interest in chasing almost impossible Badge levels with the Computers I have now at PrimeGrid. Mostly the Higher Badge Levels set up are for either guys with a ton of computers at their disposal & for future computers with the Performance increases they may have ... IMO

At the height of the Pentathlon I had 52 cores on my account PLUS the 50 cores Bryan put on my WCG account. Surely that would count for something? I must be missing something...

A Sapphire Star is 100,000 Hr's on 20 different App's or 5000 on each App ...

You have to run at least 20 different App's from any single Project or 20 different Projects or a combination of Projects to get a Star. Running just 1 App at 1 Project will never get you a Star or 5 App's won't either, it has to be 20 Different App's with 100 Hr's on each App to get the 1'st Bronze Star, then 250/500/1000/2500/5000 Hr's on those 20 App's to improve the Star to Silver/Gold/Ruby/Emerald/Sapphire Stars ...

Well you got the credits for my 50 cores, but I GOT THE TIME :))

It isn't really 20 projects for a bronze, it is 20 different projects -or- sub projects. So if you run something like PrimeGrid you can get quite a few ... just run them till you have 100 hours and then move on to the next one. If you are purely badge hunting and not worrying about credits, you can abort the WUs after you have your 100 hours and when the aborted WU reports WuProp will credit the time. WuProp grants the time x number of threads so a V8 can produce 192 hours a day.

If you go to the "main" page of WuProp in the list of links (ie your account, server status, etc) there is one called Badge List that shows what is required for each star and color.

EDIT: to expand on the WCG thing of you getting the credits and me getting the time - WuProp doesn't care what account you are crunching under it just gives time credit for the machine it is installed on. For example, to get 100 projects I crunched a lot of projects that I didn't want to show up on my main account so I attached to the projects with a phony email address. If you later decide you really do want that to show up just change the email address on the account to your real one. That is what I will do on NFS ... I had no intention of running that project but now that I will be for a while I will go ahead and move it to my regular BOINC account.

Just to be clear... Like Al stated, you need 100 hours on 20 different project applications. So on a project like PrimeGrid, running all their sub-projects for 100 hour each, brings you 12 apps closer to a badge. IIRC, when a project has different versions of the same app, say one each for Windows, Linux & Mac, and all the apps are distinctly named, then there is the potential for adding 3 apps to your count. That is assuming of course you have hardware or VMs for each of the OS's mentioned.

Ah, now I see it - in the center of the circle! :D I wasn't paying attention I guess, I just saw the 4 blue stars and didn't realize the star in the middle was part of it all - just thought it was part of the design. Yeah. I was reading the Message Boards there and it seems there's something amiss with how the server is using the stats to grant the badges. Really slow updates to give the right badges to crunchers. So I'm sure it's just totally screwed up and the absentee Project Admin isn't in any hurry to show up and fix anything.

@Justgeo1 - I think the guys can help you - SteVe, Zombie, Trig, etc - they are really into this, and WCG badges SHOULD show up in your sig I think! Just hang tight and I'm sure one of them can help you get your badges to display, you have to link to a certain "code" string and then it displays the pictures of what is connected to your BOINC user ID.

Justgeo1 doesn't show up at Free-DC as a BOINC Name, people should really use the Name they use in BOINC in the Forums too instead of confusing everyone who they really are ... IMO ... If he/she has a real BOINC name they can just go to Free-DC http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=index & look up their Stats, on their Stats page they should see their Signature with any Badges they have ...

My Mistake I guess, when I did Justgeo1 Name at Free-DC the 1'st time nothing showed up but shows up now ... Weird

Looks like I have a new Gold OProject Badge too ... :D Should have 3 Gold OProject Badges but the one that looks like a Lock doesn't show Gold, It shows Gold in the Signature for BOINC users Signature though ...

Steve, I don't have a BOINC name since I don't run it... My name is either George or Justgeo1 on all of the sites I'm on... I used the link from Bok and got some stuff from WCG, so it's out there... I just have no idea where it's at or how to include it... I've never been that up on web stuff... haven't done any programming since the old 8-bit days... and I've forgotten 90% of that... :(

Geo, I hope you do not mind me calling you that, I feel that there seems to be some misunderstanding about the so called BOINC Names. In our Front Page we have some information about BOINC, How to use it etc, I hope that might help in clarifying some aspects. In short, I note that you have been running a number of projects even though you are a WCG fan. That is fine. However, they are all BOINC Projects, for when you joined the individual projects your user name is your BOINC name.. It is suggested that you use the same name in all projects so that the stat sites like our favourite Free-DC run by our friend BOK can give you an overall status of your points for all the projects that you participate in. If you have different names in each project than the stats will give you the total for the user name and you could end up with segmented totals and will have difficulty in keeping tabs of what badges you earned.

May I make a suggestion that you log in to all the projects that you ever crunched and in your account change your user name and password to be the same in all projects. It will take at least two days for the stats site and the projects to realign themselves. Once you have the same user name and password all set up, we can help you how to show the badges in your signature.

I hope that helps and excuse me if I misunderstood your post.
